The compensation range for this position is $78,000 - $105,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
- Required to complete simulator training and to join the satellite operations On-Call team on a rotation basis. Most of the time this position is normal work hours, 5 days per week, but on occasion extra effort is required out of normal work week hours, i.e. some night and weekend work is required to recover the satellite or ground systems back to nominal operations.
- Perform spacecraft monitoring; anomaly resolution and recovery operations as required.
- Perform ground systems monitoring; anomaly resolution and repair as required. This includes maintenance visits to the primary antenna.
- Perform analysis of and assessments on satellite and ground system components and functions to ensure system is performing nominally. Provide recommendations for addressing new constraints or issues to operations leadership and customers.
- Technical interaction with subcontractor engineers, customers, and internal stakeholders as required for new unseen before anomalies, and hardware failure recoveries.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly systems operations tasks as detailed in the System Operations Manual and the Operation Procedure Sheets.
- Author and update operations procedures and automation scripts/tools as required to improve operations efficiency.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop system enhancement solutions that satisfy customer requirements, system constraints, security concerns, project needs.
- Participating in the procurement, installation, configuration and administration of specialized hardware as needed.
- Installation of hardware, networking and operating systems as required for enhancements or workstation replacements.
- Troubleshooting system network issues.
- Interface with and support IT by contributing to the implementation, deployment, or debugging of support tools and services used by the project.
- Collaborate with project team and subcontractors to conceptualize, develop, test, and release software/updates for system enhancements as needed.
- As part of the DevOps practice, contribute to continuous improvements in DevOps implementation to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Requirements
- Strong interest in satellite systems, satellite operations, space domain awareness.
- Strong attention to detail and care when issuing commands to the satellite.
- Ability to quickly learn on the job and leverage your experiences and knowledge.
- Excellent general trouble shooting, problem-solving, creative and critical thinking skills.
- University degree in technical discipline, preferably in the areas of computer science, information technology or engineering. Degrees in other Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields will also be considered.
- At least 2 years post graduate experience in anoperations environment, systems development, DevOps, SRE, or systems administration, preferably with exposure to spacecraft operations
- Strong computer skills, including software development (Java), and Windows / Linux system administration.
- Experience in command line interfaces in Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
- Experience with database systems (PostGres).
- Experience in high availability systems and disaster recovery.
- Ability to physically install equipment such as racking servers, storage, power distribution, cooling, network equipment, workstations and monitors as needed. This includes lifting heavy equipment (approx. 50lb), climbing ladders, and outdoor work on the antenna subsystem.
- A flexible team player, with ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; Working language is in English.
- The candidate needs to be able to qualify for a Secret security clearance level.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of and experience with secure environments, and experience managing information with security requirements.
- Experience in partially air-gapped or network isolated environments with limited to no internet access.
- Experience in configuring and migrating to virtual environments and operating systems (VMware) an asset.
- Experience with legacy Windows operating systems an asset
- Experience working with defense customers an asset
