Open Source Database Engineer

Opporutnity available to join a growing technology team as an Open Source Database Engineer responsible for leading the deployment, administration, and optimization of PostgreSQL and other open-source database platforms. This position supports both cloud and on-prem environments and is open to a hybrid schedule for candidates based in the Pittsburgh area.

Essential Duties

• Lead deployment and administration of open-source databases, primarily PostgreSQL
• Manage and optimize databases in cloud environments including AWS, OCI, or Azure
• Tune performance and improve query efficiency through index strategies and SQL optimization
• Provide on-call support for high-availability, mission-critical systems
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability and performance
• Implement monitoring tools and strategies to proactively identify and resolve issues

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with PostgreSQL
• At least 3 years of experience with AWS, MySQL, MariaDB, or MongoDB
• Strong background in SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and index design
• Hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, OCI, or Azure)
• Experience supporting cloud-based database infrastructures
• Willingness to provide on-call support as part of a rotating schedule
