Position Overview

Reporting to VP & Actuary, Project ARIS under Global Valuation, the Actuary assumes an important role in the implementation of IFRS 17 as part of the Global Project ARIS.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert on interpreting and applying the new IFRS 17 accounting standard for all impacted legal entities.
  • Support local teams by performing sample cash flows and reserve recalculation as part of the internal controls over the end-to-end process.
  • Support Prophet IFRS 17 model validation, development, and adoption; and act as a liaison with FIS to manage the model development needs.
  • Provide support in the preparation of the local regulatory reports (e.g. quantitative impact studies) and material for local Board meetings.
  • Actively engage with other key stakeholders, including central team, regional team and local offices, to ensure consistent implementation across all impacted legal entities.
  • Collaborate with the Finance department in the development of the new financial reports and other disclosure presentations.
  • Provide training and educate other RGA associates on IFRS 17.
  • Performs other ad-hoc duties as needed.


Requirements
  • FSA, FCIA or equivalent designation
  • Minimum of eight years of insurance and/or reinsurance industry experience
  • Advanced understanding of IFRS 17 standards
  • Advanced working experience with FIS IFRS 17 Group Calculation Library, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to build professional relationship with various departments and stakeholders across the organization
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment
  • Good understanding of international regulatory or economic capital requirements (Solvency II, Principles Based Economic Capital, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members
  • Advanced ability to adapt to new methods and work under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Expert ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced skill with MS Office suite and SQL
  • Sense of organization and the attention to details
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple and cross functional projects simultaneously
  • Good team spirit
  • Ability to work online, either at home or remotely

Compensation Range:
$131,100.00 - $163,900.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
