The Business and Financial Operations Manager is responsible for leading accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with established accounting principles. This role oversees the monthly close process, internal controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities. The Manager supervises a team of accounting professionals and partners with internal stakeholders to support compliance, operational efficiency, and financial transparency.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting
  • 1-3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a professional accounting environment
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and data reporting tools

Preferences:
  • 5 + years of management experience
  • Prior experience working for a large organization where the individual has performed general ledger management across multiple legal entities
  • Experience working in a shared services, corporate accounting, or healthcare environment
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion) and data reporting tools (Alteryx)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks; ability to apply technical accounting standards in a practical, business-focused context.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to manage performance, delegate effectively, and support professional development of direct reports.
  • High level of financial and operational acumen, including experience with variance analysis, accruals, and month-end close processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, assess risk, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and Microsoft Excel; ability to leverage technology for process improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Functions:
  • Oversees daily accounting operations and ensures alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Supervises and develops accounting staff, providing direction, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Monitors internal controls and ensures compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Coordinates with auditors and internal teams to support audit readiness and resolve issues as needed.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional departments to ensure proper accounting treatment and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reviews and interprets financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Supports the implementation of system enhancements, reporting tools, and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
