PRIMARY FUNCTION: Position provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the effective integration of technology into the instructional and operational process. The CTO ensures that the technology deployed supports the district's goals and objectives while maintaining the security of its sensitive information. This role requires expertise in technology, cybersecurity, data analytics, and infrastructure management, with a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and budget management.

SALARY SCHEDULE: A-1
WORK DAYS: 250

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution
Preferred: Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field

Experience, Skill, and Certification (Required):
Seven years of administrative leadership experience in technology
Ten years of experience managing enterprise systems, multi-departmental budgets, strategic planning, and large-scale technology initiatives
Proven interpersonal skills, excellent customer service, prioritizing work, and showing teamwork skills even in stressful situations
Superior verbal and written communication skills, conducting presentations, writing comprehensive reports, and leading senior leadership meetings
Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data, determine patterns, and form conclusions and recommendations

Preferred:
Experience with 1:1 student device program, use of AI in education, and data analytics for student success
Familiar with state, federal, and grant technology funding

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Works with the Superintendent's Cabinet on strategic planning initiatives and long-term development of innovative technology programs or services in schools and administrative facilities
2. Develops and implements the district-wide technology vision aligned with the Superintendent's priorities and instructional operational needs
3. Lead efforts on all district-wide technology projects, paying particular attention to cybersecurity, protection of PII information, budgets, and resources, and communicating to senior management any developments, deviations, or concerns
4. Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional learning around technology use for all stakeholders
5. Oversees the district's Information Technology departments, including the district network, cyber security, cloud computing, data centers, and data storage
6. Provides guidance and assistance on the integration and use of software, AI, LMS, adaptive/assistive learning tools, and devices.
7. Oversees and enforces data governance/IT-related policies to ensure the accuracy, security, and accessibility of instructional and business systems
8. Uses data analytics to drive decisions related to budget management, resource allocation, and system efficiencies
9. Collaborates with other divisions and departments on the use of technology to ensure compliance and seamless integration with existing provided services
10. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on Grade A-1 and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. The work calendar will be 250 days. Exempt revised 03/2025
