This role is a compelling opportunity for an expert-level scientist with a background in Analytical Chemistry to influence and advance Agilent's LC/Q-TOF portfolio.

In this position, you will be a subject matter expert and provide analytical chemistry expertise and leadership in scientific instrument design with a focus on analytical performance characterization & optimization, experimental design & execution, and multi-disciplinary collaboration. You will work with an experienced, motivated team of other scientists and engineers to improve upon and create new instrument product offerings.

Responsibilities:
  • Initiates, designs and executes scientific research and development strategies to develop products, applications, and/or features in the life sciences and applied chemical market fields focusing on high-resolution LC/MS.
  • Applies a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to inventions, products, and problems.
  • Conducts through investigations, and experimentation while using scientific knowledge to examine, evaluate, and test discoveries.
  • Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories relevant to analytical chemistry and high resolution.
  • Understand competitive offerings about Agilent's high-resolution mass spectrometry portfolio.
  • Typically facilitates the transition of product design to production and field delivery.
  • Conducts and/or directs chemical & instrument performance validation activities, including application of best documentation practices.
  • Interfaces with customers for an in-depth understanding of customer challenges and practical needs.
  • As needed, supports Agilent field teams as a subject matter expert for relevant technical topics, including for field sales and field support purposes
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with key industry and academic thought leaders.
  • Develops, refines & delivers presentations on technical topics to varied audiences ranging from neophytes to technical peers to senior business management at an appropriate level.
  • Contributions to scientific literature and/or conferences such as publication of papers, application notes, or conference presentations.
  • May participate in the development of patent applications.
  • Interfaces with various departments, including software R&D and Software Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Marketing, and serves as an internal consultant.
  • Performs bioinformatic and/or chemical analyses and interpretation of data
  • Possible direct supervision of up to 3 contributors.


This a full-time, on-site position located at Agilent Santa Clara Site (SCS). Remote employment is not possible for this role.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • PhD or equivalent in analytical chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience with high-resolution LC mass spectrometry data and platforms, including in-depth data review.
  • Familiarity with the Agilent MassHunter software suite, including Acquisition, Qualitative Analysis, and Quantitative Analysis.
  • Previous people and/or project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Jira is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to learn new technologies independently.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-player mindset with proven collaboration abilities.
  • Post-graduate, certification, and/or license may be required.
  • Typically, at least 8+ years of relevant experience for entry to this level.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $167,328.00 - $261,450.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
