We're seeking someone to join our team as an Exchange Data Licensing Specialist to engage in Strategic data provider relationship management, advisor to business units and Market Data Analysts on exchange data licensing requirements, analysis of BU requirements and consumption drivers and development versus commercial data licensing requirements & obligations, procurement and execution of exchange data agreements, and review & implementation of exchange policy changes.

This is a Director level position within the GSS (Global Supplier Services), the Global Market Data group includes Market Data Sourcing, Analyst, Administration, and Inventory Management functions. The Market Data Sourcing team manages the Firm's global procurement relationships with providers of market data content and services while partnering with Analysts and business units to evaluate, and understand business market data requirements, to identify the data sources and vendor products needed to execute the business, and to influence and advise on best-fit solutions.

What you'll do in the role:
  • Engaging with internal clients (both business and IT/Application Development) and Exchanges as a licensing/sourcing expert to perform business analysis pertaining to Exchange Data utilization by both End Users and Applications.
  • Operational sourcing of Exchange Data including completion of relevant agreements, order forms, schedules etc. after discussion with the Business and the Exchange as appropriate, and subsequent upload to Ariba as part of sourcing workflow.
  • Support Exchange Data Category Lead and/or Legal as required in risk analysis to ensure clients' rights and privileges are understood and fit for purpose, ensuring minimized risk / mitigating across operations, financial, reputational, and regulatory including risk due to internal and/or external redistribution of raw and derived data sets. Addressing education of Usage Rights, special use cases, redistribution, IP/copyright, for Exchange Data with assistance from Legal.
  • On a case-by-case basis either directly perform, or support the Exchange Data Policy Administrator in performing as needed:
    • Tracking and monitoring changes in Exchange data policies and pricing (announcements/data notifications)
    • Managing and educating outward any changes to those policies and ensuring the correct reflection in relevant inhouse systems
    • Ensuring upkeep of in-house systems, contract repositories, invoice validations, as needed.
    • Support on invoice discrepancies/issues.
    • Any required Usage or Entitlement or Regulatory Reporting/Declarations to the Exchanges
  • Developing/maintaining expertise in exchange policies.
  • Support the Exchange Data Category Lead around Exchange contractual, commercial and relationship issues as they arise, particularly outside UK office hours.
  • May be asked to support or participate in market data audits (opening, information gathering, assessment, response, tracking and closure).


What you'll bring to the role:
  • University degree or MBA with at least 5-10 years in finance/banking, an exchange, vendor or professional consultancy/major accountancy. FISD Level 2 - Data Licensing Specialist (DLS) highly desirable.
  • J.D. Degree with focus on contracts, intellectual property a plus.
  • Candidate should have financial services work experience with a proven track record of managing key supplier / Exchange engagements and a broad range of diverse consumer relationships.
  • Proven knowledge of Exchanges and the market data category with strong understanding of "standard" usage terms such as non-display, derived data etc..
  • Knowledge of Indices & Benchmarks as provided by the Exchanges strongly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Exchange Sourcing methodologies, proficient in developing contracts and negotiating complex usage and commercial terms
  • Strong project management, organizational and facilitation skills
  • Comfortable with manipulating large sets of data, data comparisons and advanced Excel and working knowledge of Ariba, JIRA, Exchange Policy DBs (PEAR / Profiler-XTVM), Application Compliance Systems (ACT / DCDM), Inventory Systems (FITS / MDM / FinOffice / Abacus), and LSEG/Refinitiv DACS advantageous.
