Summary

Reporting directly to the Head of Operational Finance, this critical role will be responsible for providing financial leadership and analysis, and implement strong internal controls at GeneDx's Gaithersburg, Maryland laboratory. This role will oversee the lab's cost accounting, supply chain and warehouse management, SOIP process, and financial analysis. This role is a hands-on problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

This position will be on-site position at least three days a week at our Gaithersburg, MD lab location.

Job Responsibilities
  • Cost Management and Control: Oversee monthly cost accounting reporting and inventory management. Analyze production costs, material consumption, and inventory levels. Identify cost-reduction opportunities and help implement cost-saving measures. Implement, monitor and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures; including assisting in the coordination of internal and external audits.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Analyze financial performance, identify cost drivers, and provide data-driven insights to aid operational decision-making improvements. Develop and manage the lab's annual budget and forecasts. Prepare and present financial reports to lab management and corporate finance that monitor lab performance against budget and forecast. Support the analytical and special project needs of the lab management team. Provide financial leadership for cost savings initiatives and track the improvements to gauge the effectiveness of management decisions.
  • Team Leadership, Collaboration, and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Promote a collaborative and results-orientated team environment. Provide financial leadership and guidance to the lab team. Build and expand a successful SOIP process while working closely with lab management to achieve financial and operational goals.

People Manager
  • This role will directly manage a team that is a mixture of salaried office and warehouse members. Will indirectly manage both salaried and hourly employees.

Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification a plus.
  • 10+ years progressive experience in accounting or finance in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical abilities with knowledge of standard costing, inventory management, and accounting systems, are required.
  • Proven track record of leveraging data analysis tools or other BI software to improve internal performance management and reporting.
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion change management and influence diverse groups of stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional leadership and proven track record of building and growing high performing, engaged teams.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency working with ERP systems (i.e., NetSuite).

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

Work Environment
  • Work is partially performed in an office setting with a typical climate-controlled environment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing or warehouse areas, which may involve loud noises, dust, and varying temperatures.


Pay Transparency, Budgeted Range

$165,000-$180,000 USD
