Manager, IT (LMR - Land Mobile Radio Support)

Position Summary

The Manager IT (LMR - Land mobile Radio Support) is responsible for leading a team in end-to-end lifecycle management of an assigned IT Portfolio capability. Accountable for planning, delivery and operation of services, products and processes, as well as people leadership and vendor management. They continuously innovate their product or service and contribute to achieving IT and Enterprise Strategies and KPIs.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Lead and manage the performance and development of staff. Lead priorities and manage work performance of staff, vendors and contractors. Provide leadership as needed across multiple sites, and in alignment with Union or other contracts.
  • Provide technical leadership for the LMR team at the direction of the Manager.
  • Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of LMR system components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Organize team training for ongoing learning of the P25 system and any new technologies.
  • Manage data collection, reporting, and documentation related to system operations and repairs.
  • Relationship Management: Understand the customers' needs, and partner to deliver innovative solutions. Partner with Supply Chain, Finance, Enterprise Security, Audit/Compliance and other internal groups to drive results.
  • Product Management: Ensure products and services operate in a lean, stable, and adaptable manner. Ensure product delivery and operation are cost effective and within budget.
  • Operations Management: Drive ongoing improvements in IT operational performance. Proactively prevent, and support prompt restoration of service disruptions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to support infrastructure upgrades and system enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards and company policies.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to leadership.
  • Assist with documentation for internal and other departments related to LMR equipment, training, and safety needs.
  • Assist with continuous monitoring of the system core and all infrastructure.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to ensure project and ticket completion in a timely manner.
  • Assist the technicians by prioritizing incoming tickets and help notate tickets keeping them up to date and closing the ticket when work is when finished.
  • Work to give all departments a clear line of communication with the LMR team and its members
  • Monitor team productivity and help set department metrics.
  • Attend departmental safety meetings both by remote and in-person meetings as needed.
  • Attend daily and weekly LMR department meetings to keep the team abreast of current activities, projects and teamwork load priorities.
  • Assist with keeping testing and analyzing equipment records for calibration and repairs.
  • Creation of Method of Procedures as needed for projects.
  • Attending Change Request meetings and providing approvals for projects after proper review.
  • Assist team with any fleet requests and scheduling for repairs and maintenance.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill sets
  • Proficiency with LMR technologies, system diagnostics, and maintenance tools.
  • Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results
  • Five years of prior people leadership experience
  • Ten years of experience with end-to-end service lifecycle, business process, project or product management
  • Experience with strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, delivery execution, and operations
  • Experience working within a regulated industry
  • Ability to deliver value in compliance with policies and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a customer focus, problem solve, and drive continuous improvement to solutions, systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive, adopt, and lead others through change in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Exposure to Sourcing and Contract Management practices
  • Proven ability to attain and hold in-depth acumen in business process, technical knowledge, and architectural topology
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Remote/Office-based with occasional field visits.
  • Travel: 25% or as needed for site visits, troubleshooting, project meetings, training, system cut over and other duties as required.
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8am-5pm CST.
  • Possible weekends needed as projects and situations require and for on-call assistance.
  • Will require flexible hours to support critical system cut overs to minimize company downtime and/or work interruption.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $109,500.00 to $155,500.00 per year
