Description:
The Facilities Engineering Department ensures the reliability and maintenance of site infrastructure to support cGMP operations. This includes architectural features, structural/civil elements, biotech process and laboratory equipment, HVAC, utilities, electrical power and lighting, and automation systems.
The Facilities Engineering Manager will serve as the system owner and subject matter expert for site infrastructure, utilities, and control systems. They will oversee engineering change controls, technical documents, CAPAs, deviations, and other quality system records while maintaining engineering standards, drawing controls, project controls, and department procedures.

Range: $118,000.00 / yr - $162,800.00 / yr

The Facilities Engineering Manager will serve as the system owner and subject matter expert for site infrastructure, utilities, and control systems. They will oversee engineering change controls, technical documents, CAPAs, deviations, and other quality system records while maintaining engineering standards, drawing controls, project controls, and department procedures.
Key job responsibilities include:
- Direct technical and managerial aspects of multiple projects to ensure on-time delivery, compliance, budget adherence, and required deliverables.
- Oversee engineering support for multiple locations, including corrective and preventive maintenance and repair of facilities, utilities, and equipment.
- Support the development, execution, and monitoring of the site's Capital Budget, including budget tracking, cash flow management, and project status reporting to senior management.
- Lead and support CAPA, Change Control, Deviation, Risk Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and other Quality Systems.
- Manage KBI engineering resources, including task assignments, work prioritization, and progress reporting.
- Responsible for hiring, employee motivation, counseling, discipline, and overall performance management of the Facilities Engineering team.
- Oversee all administrative and technical aspects of the Facilities Engineering Department to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible facilities development, construction, and maintenance experience.
- 5+ years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- OR Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with:
- 6-8 years of progressively responsible facilities development, construction, and maintenance experience.
- 5+ years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP requirements.
Recommended Skills:
- Facilities management experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment (biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries).
- Strong understanding of facility operations typical to the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes.
- Previous management experience preferred but not required.
- Strong orientation for quality and customer service.
- High level of integrity and personal responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to align growth requirements with profit objectives.
