Job Opportunity:
BHSI has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Claims leader in our Casualty Claims team. As the Vice President of Casualty Claims, you are responsible for a team of experienced Claims professionals managing some of the highest severity Transportation, Energy, Products, and General Casualty claims. You will use your skills, experience and knowledge to meet both our external and internal customers' needs. You are both a leader and technical expert in the field(s) with the ability to provide guidance and advise on strategy to your units in line with our claim(s) philosophy and overall business strategy. In addition to being detail - oriented, organized, and analytical, you possess the strong and practical business judgment and have the communication skills needed to interact with internal and external business partners in different situations. You excel in a collaborative environment, embrace challenges and are able to handle multiple demands in a Team setting.

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $250,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of claims professionals that manage and adjust casualty claims impacting primary and excess policies while ensuring the highest level of customer service and technical claim file quality.
- Oversee your team's claims activities related to review of new losses, coverage analysis and approval of coverage letters, timely and accurate reserving, and claim resolution.
- Edit and approve large loss reports, coverage letters, trial reports, and other work product issued by the team.
- Conduct claim audits to ensure compliance with established service standards.
- Assist in the development of claims strategy, assess market trends, and provide analysis on claim activity and recommendations on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with our Underwriting, Actuarial, Legal and Customer and Broker engagement teammates.
- Meet and participate in meetings with our customers and broker partners to communicate our "Claims is Our Product" promise.
- Present claims, claim trends, and reserve recommendations to internal leadership.
- Set expectations, coach, and develop teammates.
- Travel to internal meetings, industry conferences, client meetings, mediations, and trials as necessary.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- A minimum of 15 years' experience handling casualty claims with a demonstrated technical mastery in negotiating and settling complex claims.
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently to achieve results and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Possess critical thinking, analytical skills, and sound judgement.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- JD preferred.
- Must possess, or successfully obtain, the required adjuster licenses when needed.
