The company is a leading provider of civil infrastructure services. They provide a range of services, including infrastructure construction, maintenance, and asset management. They are seeking an Equipment Director to manage the equipment fleet to ensure seamless operations across all projects.
About the Position

The Equipment Director will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the heavy civil equipment fleet, ensuring the efficient and effective use of equipment across multiple projects. This position will be based in the Charlotte Metro area, with the office located in Great Falls, SC. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing heavy civil construction equipment, including cranes, backhoes, loaders, dozers, trucks, marine equipment, and service vehicles.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will manage the equipment fleet, maintenance programs, ownership expenses (EOE), and be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with national account partners and auction companies. You will work closely with project managers to ensure that the fleet is properly maintained, safe, and fully operational, and will be involved in all aspects of equipment purchasing, cost tracking, and lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of heavy civil construction equipment, including cranes, backhoes, loaders, dozers, rollers, generators, trucks, pickups, service vehicles, and marine equipment (barges, tugs).
  • Develop and maintain equipment maintenance programs, ensuring all equipment is serviced regularly and meets industry standards for safety and reliability.
  • Manage equipment ownership expenses (EOE), ensuring efficient utilization of resources and tracking of costs associated with equipment use, maintenance, and repair.
  • Work with national accounts and auction companies to purchase equipment, securing favorable terms and pricing.
  • Supervise and manage a team responsible for equipment tracking, maintenance, and deployment across multiple projects.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for equipment fabrication, including welding, plasma cutting, and related activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil equipment fleet management, including experience with cranes, backhoes, dozers, trucks, and marine equipment.
  • Proven fabrication knowledge, including welding, plasma cutting, and similar processes.
  • Experience working with national accounts and auction companies for equipment procurement.
  • Ability to track and manage Equipment Ownership Expenses (EOE) effectively.
  • Previous experience in a company of comparable size ($450M+ in annual revenue) is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and collaborate across departments.
  • Willingness to be based between the Charlotte, NC/Columbia, SC area, with the office located in Great Falls, SC.
