Position Summary

The Senior Director of Regional Development serves as the primary liaison with industry partners, individual philanthropist, alumni, and parents to optimize long-term, mutually beneficial relationships that support philanthropic fundraising. The Senior Director of Regional Development reports directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Chief Development Officer and will have responsibility for developing and executing effective strategies designed to maximize regional support of college philanthropic priorities. Responsibilities will focus on prospective donors and partners with the capacity to make major and principal level gifts from a portfolio of strategically aligned prospects. In collaboration with Advancement staff, create and submit written proposals for donors. This position will collaborate with the senior leaders of the Advancement team.

The newly established Regional Development program team builds and maintains relationships with alumni and friends to raise major gifts for the College. The Regional Directors of Development build a culture of philanthropy in regions across the country while strengthening affinity for Morehouse College. The Regional Senior Director of Development leads the Regional Development team and provides a strategic direction and leadership for alumni and friends as they make philanthropic and volunteer decisions. This position supervises four Regional Director of Developments.

Required Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred; bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in development, major gifts fundraising, donor relations or other related professional experience
Ability to travel, including overnight stay, locally and nationally
Ability to work weekends and evenings as necessary

Must have fundraising experience in higher education
Ability to quickly create long-term relationships with College's internal and external constituents
Excellent communication, presentation, project management, and relationship management skills
Effective communicator and collaborator working in a cross-functional environment
Ability to analyze and synthesize information, to manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines
Must possess cultivating, soliciting, and stewardship techniques resulting in successful individual, corporate and foundation gifts
Experience in establishing strategies to identify and qualify prospects
Success in creating and executing a strategic development plan for soliciting, securing and stewarding gifts from external partners.
Experience in establishing a pipeline of supporters and managing a portfolio of at least 100 potential donors
Demonstrated success in portfolio management, prospect qualification, analytics, and research and proven project management skills
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, and manage details of several concurrent projects
Experience using reporting tools, design software, and donor management software.
Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Establish strong, long-term relationships with donors for program investment for the College
Previous capital campaign, major gift cultivation and/or donor solicitation experience is essential.
Seek philanthropic support for specific College program initiatives and new program development
Successful manage portfolio of donors and ensure that timely and accurate reports are provided
Identify new prospective donors through a specific pool of prospective donors
Collaborate with senior leaders of Advancement as well as senior leaders of the College to identify program details and create opportunities for donors to invest in the College
Ensure that performance measurements are implemented to identify ways of expanding and enhancing donor/partner relationships for the College
