Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Health Science, School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Six years of progressively responsible and effective leadership in health-related services, school-based counseling, psychological services, social services, or closely related.
  • Valid Florida licensing to practice as a health professional, school psychologist, school counselor, mental health counselor, or related.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Health Science, School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, ADA, IDEA, Section 504, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of current theory and best practices in psychological evaluation, consultation, counseling, social skills, crisis intervention, crisis response, and other similar practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with multi-disciplinary teams across departments.
  • Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision-making to implement effective programs.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Implement district-wide physical and mental health strategies aligned with best practices and state/federal regulations.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team in the development and maintenance of the district's comprehensive mental health plan.
  • Establish protocols for responding to student mental health crises and provide guidance to school-based teams. Oversee the deployment of the District Crisis Counseling Response Team.
  • Build strategic partnerships with external organizations to ensure students receive appropriate and effective services.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Physical and Mental Health Services in addition to school and district leadership to establish clear performance metrics to track the progress of school transformation efforts.
  • Regularly review and analyze performance metric data to assess the effectiveness of initiatives and guide decision-making.
  • Develop and implement training programs for school staff on topics related to mental health awareness, exceptional children, intervention strategies, and a multi-tiered system of support.
  • Supporting a collaborative working environment that encourages innovation, communication, and continual learning.
  • Ensure district compliance with federal, state, and district policies related to student mental health and wellness.
  • Coordinate with program administrators of grants and other funding directly related to mental health initiatives.
  • Stay current on trends, research, and theory on school transformation and student achievement. Participate in state and national organizations and build rapport with peer organizations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to assist in developing strategies to address adult mental health support systems.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
