General Description: The Director of Business Engagement and Career Services engages local businesses in Northern Virginia to build and enhance regional talent pipelines that meet sector hiring and development needs while increasing career awareness and career opportunities. Increase career awareness and job opportunities for NOVA students. The Director establishes and maintains on-going relationships with various college departments, college leadership and regional employers. The Director collaborates with national and regional partners to position Northern Virginia as the global leader in talent development. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Strategy, Research and Workforce Innovation.

Duties and Tasks:
- Oversee college-wide career services and employer engagement opportunities that will lead to job and internships postings.
- Oversee the Business Engagement Center, NOVA's central point of access for employers and other community partners.
- Develop and execute the college's career services strategy while dramatically enhancing the college's employer partnerships for credit and non-credit students.
- Serve as the point person for the division's effort to build a first of its kind talent guarantee to assist employers searching for and growing local talent in high demand areas.
- Collaborate with college-wide and community-wide partners.
- Develop and deliver results/metrics, which are critical to the success of this role.
- Supervise a team of professionals.
- Make regular requests from employees for updates and input on college decisions and share feedback with supervisors for inclusion in the NOVA Brief.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Knowledge of how employers source and hire talent
- Knowledge of college career services and student career advising modes
- Skilled in forming effective partnerships and collaborations across diverse stakeholders
- Skilled in interpersonal communication and conflict resolution
- Skilled in management, budgeting, and operational procedures as well as able to lead the effective use of information technology for administrative and instructional purposes
- Ability to synthesize complex information and present to varied audiences
- Ability to analyze and make sound, informed, and well-considered recommendations on complex issues
- Ability to plan and manage multiple budgets
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse workforce
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on individual student and personnel matters
- Ability to maintain and meet deadlines and deliver high quality work product when managing multiple projects
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build consensus to achieve institutional goals
- Master's degree awarded by a regionally accredited college or university.
- Significant administrative experience with progressive responsibilities in a community college and/or university setting.
- Experience in career services or student development within a higher education environment.
- Proven ability to develop and manage external partnerships, including employers, donors, and government agencies.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data and evidence to inform decision-making.
- Commitment to the community college mission and its role in workforce and economic development.
- Demonstrated dedication to ensuring access and positive outcomes for all students.
- Experience in designing and implementing career development strategies to support diverse student populations.
- Ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and student-centered service.
