Why is this role important?
The Senior Analyst, Master and Reference Data, is part of a matrix team who supports defining and implementing an enterprise-level vision and strategy to enhance master and reference data capabilities for operational, analytical and reporting needs. They are responsible for the analytical and core operational activities of the department across master and reference data domains and provides support for key CIHI strategic initiatives, components of the master data program of work, and master data operational activities.
What you'll do
1. Responsible for operational activities related to master and reference data to support the implementation of the overall master and reference data strategy. This includes maintenance, research and updates of master data.
2. Conducts data management activities including writing and updating statistical code required for the development, computation, analysis, and/or verification of key deliverables related to master and reference data domains.
3. Develops and enhances master and reference data usage guidelines, standards and documentation such as business rules, standard operating procedures, data dictionaries, implementation guides, training materials to establish single corporate stewardship and accountability for data domains.
4. Collaborates with program areas to gather requirements related to the management and use of master and reference domain data (organization, geography, population, client) and works with the Data and Information Governance Committee and Stewardship Council to establish and implement respective standards, policies and procedures.
5. Collaborates with key stakeholders in CIHI's business areas, to fully understand business requirements and processes and ensure awareness and knowledge of corporate direction to inform master and reference data programs of work.
6. Participates in the design of test strategies/test cases to support accurate and comprehensive testing of enhancements to master and reference data across corporate products and systems.
7. Provides methodological advice and mentoring to other members of the analytical team.
8. Develops and maintains knowledge of CIHI's data holdings and corporate master data sources including geography, organization, client, & population data, CRM, Access Management System (AMS) and analytical tools (e.g. Python, Excel, MicroStrategy) used at CIHI.
9. Ensures adherence to, and ability to demonstrate compliance with, CIHI's privacy and security policies and procedures when using CIHI data and information.
10. Supports other relevant duties and responsibilities as required.
What you'll bring to the table
Undergraduate degree in health information, mathematics/statistics or similar field.
Three to five years of experience in data analytics activities with experience in analyzing large and complex data.
Experience using Python to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets. Experience with SAS or R is an asset.
Experience with, healthcare data, standards and master or reference data. Experience with CIHI databases is an asset.
Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to excel in a matrix team environment while demonstrating initiative and ownership of work.
Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
