Position Overview
The Team Leader position involves the clinical supervision of a small number of licensed, non-licensed staff and direct service provision in a behavioral healthcare setting. The employee is responsible to develop, implement, and coordinate therapeutic services within the program. The Team Leader supervises and provides multi-disciplinary clinical and case management services delivered by a team of professionals with a focus of engaging consumers with serious mental illness and substance use. The employee ensures that the needs of consumers, program goals, and contract objectives are effectively achieved. Work involves some direct care services that include client assessment, individual and group counseling and applying various therapeutic interventions. The employee exercises considerable professional initiative and judgment.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field
LMSW, LCSW, LMHC required
Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
At least two years of supervisory/management experience in human services; clinical experience in crisis assessment and treatment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Proficient in MS Word/Excel
Bilingual in any language a plus not required.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge base of clinical care standards
Strong organizational skills and timely follow-up to manage complex tasks associated with providing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
- Directs and coordinates consumer admission process, treatment and rehabilitation services, support services, and discharge process
- Implements and coordinates clinical services in program; monitors services to ensure that professional standards are maintained and services are delivered in accordance with certification requirements, and agency policies
- Leads team organizational and service planning meetings, as well as other meetings regarding visits, appointments, and client discussion
- Ensures program emphasizes goal driven case management functions; symptom management; family and other support system interventions; and facilitation and coordination of essential services to consumers.
- Supervises team of staff through both direct observation in the office and in the community, when applicable
- Reviews records; establishes work schedules; sets standards of performance for program staff; evaluates work performance; handles complaints and grievances; conducts staff training
- Responds to consumer needs promptly, accurately and with courtesy and respect. Models appropriate behavior. Represents the organization in a positive and appropriate manner to outside resources.
Data and Accountability
- Develops, conducts, and monitors treatment interventions for specific target populations; provides support to staff and clients in crisis or problem cases.
- Performs consumer centered, comprehensive assessments to determine needed services for all consumers; develops both initial and ongoing treatment plans; assigns the most appropriate staff to the individual treatment team and actively participates in all activities in revising treatment plans as the participant's needs change
- Review / manage ongoing program notes, assessments, reports, risk management, incidents, and meet deadlines required in a timely manner.
- Maintain systems and supports to monitor this work and establish continuity and accountability.
- Ensure implementations of systems are in place to address emerging issues and prevent future instances.
Compliance
- Ensures program operates in accordance with contractual requirements and other applicable regulations, including program standards and performance improvement plans
- Remain current and updated on new regulations, policies, and best practices and train staff on policies.
- Participates in quality improvement process, administrative meetings, team meetings, in-service trainings, client staffing and case reviews.
Operations
- Build a strong team: support and supervise program staff.
- Performs on call duties for crisis intervention and supervision.
- Maintain relationships with agency support departments including IT, HR, Finance and Quality Assurance to strengthen program operations.
- Develop tracking / organizational system to manage all program operations, tasks, and other duties.
- Interprets relevant information to resolve problems. Effectively balances considerations and alternatives to make sound decisions.
- Handles unexpected situations by responding effectively to challenges, deadlines and emergencies. Copes adequately with stress on the job.
- Applies time management skills to work effectively within given deadlines. Organizes own time and prioritizes workload effectively. Uses resources wisely.
External Relations
- Maintain relationships with outpatient programs, housing programs, as well as continuing to build relationships with organizations that may be able to assist SUS consumers who need other services.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
