Job Description

The Pricing Director will be responsible for driving the pricing strategy, managing operational pricing tasks, and collaborating closely with the merchandising, sales, and executive teams. This position will ensure that our pricing is competitive, aligned with business strategies, and optimized across various e-commerce channels. The role will focus heavily on maintaining day-to-day operational pricing processes, managing pricing exceptions, and delivering data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the Pricing Director will oversee the pricing processes for our verticals, channels such as marketplace, including audits, price changes, and competitive price monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pricing Strategy and Business Partnering:

o Lead the development of pricing strategies in close collaboration with the merchandising team, ensuring alignment with category and business goals.

o Work with the sales group to develop vertical and customer-specific pricing strategies and support customer negotiations, including managing pricing exceptions and driving compliance with customer contracts.

o Partner with the merchandising team to identify pricing opportunities and risks, leveraging data to support and optimize product category strategies.

o Support the business in developing and implement channels such as marketplace pricing strategies to ensure competitive positioning across multiple platforms, including paid media, affiliate channels, and PLA for example.

2. Operational Pricing Management:

o Oversee day-to-day pricing operations, including MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) audits, price updates based on competitive analysis, and addressing SKUs priced below cost.

o Manage the process of regular pricing updates across the e-commerce platform, ensuring that pricing is adjusted according to market conditions, competitor activities, and sales data.

o Utilize web scrapes and competitive price tracking tools to identify shifts in the market and take necessary actions to adjust pricing accordingly.

o Create predictability models and tools to better assess pricing changes impacts to the business and measurable tools to help drive performance management

3. Data Analytics and Reporting:

o Provide comprehensive data, reporting, and analysis to key stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment with business goals.

o Work closely with business partners to track performance against pricing strategies and highlight areas of improvement or opportunity.

o Create and deliver actionable insights through front-end dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to guide pricing decisions and business strategies.

4. Technical Leadership and Data Management:

o Utilize advanced SQL skills to extract and manipulate data from Snowflake and other data sources for reporting and analysis.

o Interpret and transform backend data into actionable pricing strategies and insights, communicating complex analyses in a clear and concise manner.

o Lead pricing audits and ensure that pricing decisions align with business objectives, customer contracts, and market trends.

5. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

o Lead and mentor a team of pricing professionals, ensuring high performance, development, and alignment with organizational goals.

o Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams (sales, merchandising, IT, and executive leadership) to drive pricing strategies and initiatives.

o Provide strategic recommendations to the executive team, delivering insights in a digestible format and driving key business outcomes.
Skills:

o Strong technical proficiency in data management and analytics tools such as SQL, Snowflake, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and other business intelligence tools.

o Solid understanding of e-commerce pricing dynamics, including the impact of paid media, affiliate programs, and PLA on pricing strategies.

o Strong financial acumen and experience with customer contract pricing, price exception management, and competitive price analysis.

o Exceptional business partnering and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.

o Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience managing and developing high-performance teams.
