Flatirons Solutions is looking to hire a seasoned Product Owner / Business Analyst with a strong technical background to join our global Engineering Operations team. This position uniquely blends responsibilities from both disciplines and is ideal for someone who can move comfortably between product strategy, customer needs, and technical implementation.
As a leader in technical content and maintenance workflow management for the aerospace industry, our platform helps the world's top airlines and aircraft manufacturers streamline complex engineering and operational processes. The Flatirons platform is used by eight of the top ten global airlines and the top three aircraft engine OEMs to produce, manage, and deliver technical content that keeps maintenance teams and task performers efficient, compliant, and mission ready.
This is a unique role that functions in a consulting capacity. Not only will you be expected to drive the program from within, but you will also have significant relationships and responsibilities with customers, technical account managers, solutions management, and other stakeholders.

The PO has a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the team and ensuring that stories meet user needs and are completed according to agreed-upon acceptance criteria.

What we are looking for:
- Dual PO/BA focus - This role combines responsibilities of both a Product Owner and a Business Analyst. Previous experience in business analysis or quality assurance is a plus.
- Technical background - This role is ideal for someone with software development experience, especially when working closely with engineering teams.
- Proven expertise in Agile software development - You understand Agile principles and can apply them to develop and release software effectively.
- Business workflow modeling and story creation - Comfortable defining and configuring business workflows. You have experience translating real-world processes into structured flows and user stories that support software development.
Role Summary
The Product Owner / Business Analyst is a member of the Agile team responsible for defining stories and prioritizing the team backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features for the team. The PO has a significant role in maximizing the value produced by the team and ensuring that stories meet user needs and are completed according to agreed-upon acceptance criteria.
Responsibilities
- Works with customers to understand their business needs, current workflows and processes and translate those to software requirements.
- Accepts features from Solution Management ensuring the requirements are clear and ready to be broken down into user stories.
- Approves feature and user story designs to ensure they meet the needs of all impacted customers.
- Manage the product business initiatives estimation process.
- Builds and grooms the team backlog into sprint-sized or smaller work items (i.e., User Stories, Defects and Activities). Backlog items are prioritized based on business initiatives, customer support activities, and other team dependencies determined in the PI planning event and refined during the PI/ART.
- Provides go/no-go on acceptance of implemented user stories. This includes validating that the story meets acceptance criteria, has appropriate acceptance tests, and complies with its Definition of Done.
- Reviews and re-prioritize the backlog as part of the prep work for Iteration Planning, including coordination of dependencies with other POs. During the iteration planning event, the PO communicates story detail and priorities and ensures the team aligns and agrees on a final iteration plan.
- Coordinates with other product owners to ensure cross-product dependencies are resolved with minimal impact to the release.
- Provides feature status to business owners (Product Managers, TAMs, etc.) and project managers.
- Provides feature demos to Solution Management, Customers, Technical Account Managers and other stakeholders.
- Reviews and accepts product documentation for quality and accuracy.
- Maintains the product feature list.
- Maintains the product release calendar.
- Understand and adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System and the Information Security Management System.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent years' experience in software development.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience participating in business process change, and operations implementation projects.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical lead/team lead/lead designer role - this role requires a good understanding of technology.
- In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles.
