As a Sr. Advanced R&D Engineer / Scientist here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in driving innovation, shaping the company's technical strategy, and mentoring future leaders. You will report directly to our Senior R&D Manager, and you will work out of our Des Plaines, IL location. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive the commercialization of new materials to support the energy transition, delivering innovative solutions to existing customers in established markets that aim to reduce their carbon footprint and enhance profitability.
  • Participate in cross-functional technology development teams that include specialists from Research & Development (R&D), Engineering, Technical Services, and Manufacturing, utilizing advanced systems engineering methods.
  • Develop and implement robust project plans to fulfill technology delivery commitments, while leading pilot plant experiments and enhancing experimental effectiveness.
  • Utilize industry reports and scientific literature to remain aware of competitive dynamics, track new developments in the industry, and lead projects that address technology gaps.
  • Explore opportunities to invent novel materials and process concepts, author invention disclosures, and submit patent applications.
  • Collaborate directly with business groups at Honeywell-UOP and engage with customers to understand their needs, enabling the development of competitive solutions.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.

The annual base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $154,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • Recognized as a leader and expert in your field
  • 3+ years of Engineering experience
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and people-oriented skills
  • Ability to work with and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in mentoring and developing talent
  • Publication record and contributions to the industry
