PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Estimate projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Procedures.
- Is assigned as Lead Estimator and is responsible for generating the project estimate under close and direct supervision of the Estimating Manager.
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
- Prepares estimating takeoffs from the drawings and specifications working with Engineering and CAD designers.
- Analyzes regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
- Obtains quotations from vendors and subcontractors for materials and performance of tasks not being self-performed.
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
- Participates in external/client discussions with Proposal Manager. At Proposal Manager's discretion will lead parts of the conversation.
- Participates in schedule development under supervision of Proposal and Estimating Managers.
- Has basic knowledge of company level unit costs, efficiencies, work instructions, and business processes.
- Assigned indicative pricing requests as needed under supervision of Estimating Manager.
- Can solve some problems with assistance from Estimating Manager.
- Ability to travel to project sites to understand construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions and perform time-studies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Prefer BS degree in a business or engineering disciplined program.
- Preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, or Power Generation
- Minimum of 2 years' experience, 3-4 years preferred in estimating solar construction projects
- Working knowledge of estimating fundamentals
- Working knowledge of estimated software programs (B2W or WinEst preferred) and MS office application proficiency
- Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make presentations to large, diverse groups.
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
- General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
