  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
  • 5 years of experience with Kubernetes architecture and its application in production environments.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience in defining technical strategy and architecture systems.
  • Experience in designing and implementing secure systems, including a strong understanding of security protocols.

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will focus on User Interface (UI), Command-Line Interface (CLI), and Developer Experience on Google Distributed Cloud Air-gapped. You will enable partners to run their applications at scale on this platform. Google Distributed Cloud Air-gapped (GDCag) allows public sector organizations and regulated enterprises to address strict data residency and security needs with a fully isolated environment, integrated cloud services (including Vertex AI), and an open ecosystem built on Kubernetes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and execute deployment and operations scaling strategies for Google Distributed Cloud air-gapped (GDCag) solutions, aligning with overall product strategy and business objectives.
  • Design, vet, and deploy life-cycle features, tooling, and processes for planning, deployment, operations, upgrades, expansion, and turn down of GDC air-gapped instances, advocating best practices.
  • Develop a strategic technical roadmap for Operations Engineering projects in collaboration with stakeholders across Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Foster deep partnerships with various sub-teams within GDC, driving joint projects that strengthen overall Operations Excellence.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing, team of engineers focused on Operations Engineering, and cultivate and manage relationships with key GDCag customers, serving as a primary engineering point of contact.
