SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Director of Engineering & Technical Services will be responsible for the design, development, CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, Validation), and commercialization of all new proprietary & purchased equipment, support the launch of new products, and implementation of new processes in Production. Director of Engineering & Technical Services will also be responsible for the leadership, development, planning & management of a team of Engineers and Engineering Technicians, in our Prescott facilitie.
This position is also responsible for the leadership, development, planning & management, of a team of mechanics in our Prescott facilities. Responsible for providing leadership for the installation & maintenance of all manufacturing equipment in a timely and correct manner, with Safety as the first priority. This position is responsible for working with the Facilitie leader to support the maintenance of all facilities.
This position responsibility includes ensuring projects are on time and within budget. Responsible for the implementation of Lean processes and cost reduction projects in Production. Provide leadership & planning for the set-up & changeover of all production lines to support Production needs and help meet their daily production goals.
This position is responsible for the management, tracking, and reporting of annual spending budget, tracking of spending by month to ensure we do not exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual Maintenance spending budget. Responsible for the creation of Capital equipment project proposals with ROI for all new and used equipment purchases, completion of projects on time and in budget, and report to management on the tracking of annual Capital and spending by month, to ensure we do not exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual spending budget, and ROI is met as proposed.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects to support SV Sales & Profit goals. Work closely and effectively with cross functional teams across the organization and provide Engineering & Technical leadership.
- Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with SV's established policies and objectives, and are on time and within budget.
- Hires, trains, & mentors Maintenance team employees. Manages, coaches, motivates, and leads team members to meet Maintenance & Production goals
- Establishes and aligns expectations for Engineering Team members & Mechanics team members with daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance goals, and holds employees accountable for achieving these goals
- Ensures that Mechanics are being cross-trained in multiple areas to provide Production support where required to meet daily Production goals
- Provides performance feedback to team members and disciplinary action to ensure compliance with management policies, procedures, and safety rules & regulations.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations of team members that are timely, constructive, and have them perform to their full potential.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy in a timely manner.
- Maintain safe and clean work environment, and implement safety/housekeeping, health, and environmental programs.
- Ensures Mechanics & Engineering Team members clean up their work area prior to release to Production and remove all their tools, and to ensure there is no contamination of product or a safety hazard in the Production equipment area
- Manages team to ensure GMP general safety policies and procedures are in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Ensure all team members adhere to SV's safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for reporting and repairing any safety violations or problems.
- Participate as a key contributing member in the company's Safety Committee.
- Responsible for the timeline, milestones, budget, design, development, CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, Validation), and commercialization of all new proprietary & purchased equipment. Support the launch of new products, and implementation of new processes in Production.
- Leads the creation of all documentations required for the transfer of equipment development from Engineering to production which includes Operator instructions with centerline standards, spare parts list with min and max order inventory requirements, PM schedule w/daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activities, troubleshooting guide, etc.
- Lead stage gate process for the development and commercialization of all equipment.
- Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output.
- Familiar with the knowledge and implementation of Lean Manufacturing Principles & Techniques to eliminate waste and maximize value for the customer.
- Lean manufacturing techniques include value stream mapping, identification & reduction of 7 wastes, 5S and Gemba Walks, 6-sigma methodology, Kanban and Just-in-Time manufacturing, TPM, quick changeover techniques, track & reduce downtime, power hour performance, with goal to improve throughput and OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency).
- Lead & participate in Equipment Area Ownership program, and productivity improvement & cost reduction projects, to improve Production operations.
- Lead TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) platform for the company with Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Quality Integration, Focused Improvement, Training of Mechanics and Production operators, and Safety.
- Responsible for the creation of annual Capital equipment project proposals with ROI for all new and used equipment purchases. Track & report the management & tracking of annual Capital and Expense spending by month, to ensure we do not exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual spending budget, and ROI is met as proposed.
- Lead & participate in productivity improvement & cost reduction projects to improve Production operations
- Supervise, manage and lead all maintenance resources, processes and operations.
- Be responsible for efficient set-up and changeover of production lines per the Production schedule and request of the Production area supervisor.
- Assist the Production Mangers in the safe and efficient set up of all production lines and the monitoring of down time related to equipment failures.
- Plan and manage all repair and installation activities performed by the Mechanics team.
- Maintain all machinery to ensure it's at working standards.
- Be responsible for troubleshooting set up and machine problems.
- Create and implement maintenance procedures.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment and material handling equipment to insure its safe operation.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.
- Assign repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates.
- Manage, track, and report Maintenance spending budget for equipment, spare parts and tools. Ensure all spending is within monthly, quarterly, and annual spending budget.
- Document and prepare daily progress reports and maintain all related manuals, purchasing logs and maintenance logs for all equipment and spare parts for Maintenance.
- Oversee equipment & spare parts inventory and place orders for new supplies when necessary.
- Train all people within the department in the proper setup, safe use and maintenance of our equipment.
- Assist the Production Manager in training factory personnel in the safe use and adjustment of our equipment.
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of all common areas of the building including the grounds.
- Be responsible for maintaining and organizing the maintenance work area as well as the machinery, change parts, spare parts and hand tools used in each of the departments.
- Responsible for the moving of departments, installation of machinery and equipment, electrical, plumbing, and construction of leasehold improvements.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Consults with Vice President Operations and Chief Executive Officer and create long-range Engineering & Technical Services goals specific to the needs of the organization.
- Hires, trains, & mentors Engineers and Engineering Technicians. Manages, coaches, motivates, and leads team members to meet Engineering & Production goals.
- Develops new equipment, products, & processes from concept to production, and released to production utilizing CQV process and meets project goals.
- Implement Lean processes and cost reduction projects in manufacturing.
- Creates, implements, tracks and reports Capital equipment projects with ROI tracking to ensure projects are on time and within budget, and ROI is achieved as projected.
- Collaborates with Sales department to determine potential for new products and processes.
- Checks with Production Manager and Production Supervisors to make sure that lines are changed when needed and that down time is kept to a minimum.
- Participates with the mechanics in the changing over of lines.
- Assigns projects and tasks to individual members of the maintenance staff.
- Scheduling and overseeing all maintenance-related work by managing a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors
- Supervises facilities maintenance team to make sure that there assigned tasks are completed by inspecting the plant periodically.
- Coordinates with operations to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Ensuring that all maintenance operations are done in accordance with company policy and OSHA guidelines.
- Ensuring the facility satisfies all industry regulations.
- Trouble shoots equipment problems.
- Collaborates with product manager or plant engineers regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
- Hires outside service personnel to assist in meeting the responsibilities of the job
- Hiring subcontractors for specialized maintenance work and signing off on maintenance contracts.
- Managing department budgets.
- Forecasting, ordering, and price negotiation for spare parts inventory, tools and supplies for the department.
- Weekly review of the Preventative Maintenance schedule
- Developing and implementing a (proactive) maintenance strategy.
- Coordinating the completion of complex repairs.
- Looking for new ways/tools/assets to improve productivity and cut costs.
- Drafting maintenance reports
- Responds to and corrects any safety problems brought to the attention of the department.
- Performs other related duties as required.

CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time exempt role.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
- At least five years of related experience required.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in a GMP environment preferred
- 5+ years of Managerial Experience
- Strong problem solving abilities
- 3+ years' experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
