Overview

We are seeking a full-time Envronmental Product Compliance Program Lead in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, overseeing and assessing environmental product programs.

Essential Functions
  • Engages with internal and external customers and assists in delivering chemical compliance information.
  • Develops Garmin's strategy for ensuring environmental product compliance with both existing and emerging global regulations, such as RoHS, Conflict Minerals, TSCA, REACH, POPs, Proposition 65, the Battery Directive, and others.
  • Analyzes and provides guidance on the business implications of evolving environmental compliance regulations
  • Effectively identifies risks and issues, develops mitigation strategies, and escalates to management to ensure alignment
  • Ensures that team members and stakeholders are kept well-informed about the project's scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Applies expert knowledge of chemicals and materials to develop compliance solutions, including tools, requirements, and sustainable, auditable processes.
  • Documents the project scope for strategic initiatives, including detailed assumptions, requirements (internal, external, regulatory), objectives/targets, validation needs, resource estimates, costs, and timelines.
  • Effectively tracks, manages, and supports multiple projects and priorities, simultaneously
  • Creates external communications to maintain a consistent and coordinated message on environmental compliance
  • Builds relationships and gains alignment with cross-departmental teams and Garmin leadership

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of 5 years relevant project management experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant project management experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Proficiency in understanding and interpreting state and national legislation, directives and industry standards
  • Advanced understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management, including the ability to successfully identify and mitigate risks
  • Demonstrated success in bringing together cross functional teams for effective problem resolution
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions while maintaining high quality standards
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills through success in previous project management experience
  • Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint) or similar

Desired Qualifications
  • BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Experienced with Product Environmental regulations
  • Experienced working with industry advocacy groups, regulatory agencies, and legislators to influence the scope of regulations
  • Knowledge of the details of producer responsibility regulations pertaining to electronic products
  • Proficiency in understanding and interpreting state and national legislation, directives, and industry standards
