Sovereign is looking for a logical and astute leader to lead the Professional and Management Liability underwriting team to ensure strong execution, operational efficiency and portfolio growth at a national level. The successful candidate will be skilled at implementing creative Professional and Management Liability Lines solutions. This role will oversee a diverse portfolio across broker direct, delegated authority and MGA distribution channels.

Sovereign is looking for a logical and astute leader to lead the Professional and Management Liability underwriting team to ensure strong execution, operational efficiency and portfolio growth at a national level. The successful candidate will be skilled at implementing creative Professional and Management Liability Lines solutions. This role will oversee a diverse portfolio across broker direct, delegated authority and MGA distribution channels.
How you will create impact:
- Lead an underwriting team to achieve company goals for growth and profit in a sustainable fashion
- Providing leadership and technical expertise for Directors & Officers and Errors & Omissions risks to team members across Canada.
- Conducting ongoing reviews of existing accounts and programs, including conduct of audits, to ensure the quality of accounts underwritten and adherence to procedures and portfolio philosophy.
- Collaborating with underwriters on complex accounts, providing guidance and final approval to ensure alignment with underwriting standards and business strategy.
- Coaching and developing your team, recruiting and selecting talent, managing and rewarding performance, and fostering an agile culture to deliver on strategic objectives
- Providing proactive portfolio management techniques to deliver enhanced profitability
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and MGA partners, with a focus on growing submission flow and program business.

To join our team:
- Experience with the MGA and delegated authority distribution channels.
- Strong broker relationships with proven ability to drive submission flow and new business production
- Experience managing and mentoring an underwriting team, with a focus on developing technical and business acumen
- A proven track record as a successful leader in the general insurance business, emphasis on Professional Liability and Management Liability lines of business, and preference on leading a national team.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience, with propensity for making informed, effective business decisions within a complex environment.
- Strong technical expertise and sound underwriting skillset in Professional Liability and Management Liability Lines of business.
- Bilingualism (French/English) would be considered an asset
- CIP/FCIP/RPLU and/or CRM designations
- This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Qubec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
