Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Health Care Information Technology, Computer Science or a related area and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle field preferred.
  • Clinical experience a plus.
  • Experience with large scale, automated patient billing systems, medical terminology and coding. MediTech experience preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of hospital and physician access management processes electronic data interchange and claims processing, third party payer rules, reimbursement practices and regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience working with revenue cycle information systems or system implementation teams for complex projects, application development and/or support.
  • Advanced computer skills required.
  • Employee must possess the knowledge to adapt to various types of computer software packages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, patients, families and external individuals, groups and agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, simultaneously handle multiple projects and make appropriate decisions to assure completion of tasks on time.
  • Professional maturity and demeanor that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position and to represent the organization to internal and external constituents.
  • Employee must possess the knowledge Charge Capture/Coding/Clinical Documentation analysis experience preferred.

DUTIES:

The Director of Patient Access is responsible for leading all aspects of Patient Access as it relates to the Revenue Cycle for the Samaritan Health System. Functional assignments include accurate patient registration, point of service collections, developing and growing a centralized scheduling pool as well as centralized authorizations. Responsible for coordinating patient flow in functional areas and insuring smooth patient flow to service delivery areas. Provides oversight to quality assurance and process improvement activities. Manages employee performance to meet or exceed quality and productivity standards. Director is expected to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and be a contributing member of the Revenue Cycle Leadership team. Demonstrates the philosophy and HEART values of Samaritan Medical.
