Lab M&TE Custodian
The Lab M&TE Custodian is Lab Operations position that provides support to the TerraPower Laboratory Facility Manager and performs day-to-day functions of the Laboratory Operations department.
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the custody, calibration, maintenance, and storage of Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) to ensure they meet compliance, quality, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will be organized, have an understanding of M&TE handling processes, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily operational/laboratory support to ensure facility is functional and adequate to support TerraPower operations.
Maintain and organize the storage of M&TE, ensuring equipment is stored securely and safely when not in use.
Perform routine inspections of M&TE in accordance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
Track the location and status of all M&TE, ensuring proper documentation of calibration schedules, certifications, and maintenance records.
Support the calibration and maintenance program by coordinating with vendors and internal teams to schedule services as needed.
Ensure all M&TE are tagged and labeled correctly with the necessary information, including calibration status, unique ID and next due dates.
Assist in conducting inventory counts and audits of M&TE, ensuring proper stock levels and that all equipment is accounted for.
Provide support during internal and external audits by supplying necessary documentation regarding equipment status, calibration, and maintenance records.
Support daily check-in & check-out of M&TE in an electronic database.
Coordinate with other organizations (Engineering, Procurement, QA, etc.) to maintain the flow of M&TE through the system and process.
Delivery of M&TE to local testing facilities.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
Key Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate's Degree or certifications in a technical field preferred).
Previous experience in an M&TE handling, calibration, or maintenance role is a plus but not required.
Familiarity with measurement and test equipment, calibration standards, and safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
Ability to follow procedures and work within established guidelines for M&TE management.
Basic computer skills, including knowledge of inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface effectively with employees, management is a plus.
Ability to work a modified schedule and overtime as workload and project schedules dictate.
Must be flexible and able to quickly adjust to new or changing projects/tasks and schedules.
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrating self-motivation and initiative is preferred.
Military experience is a plus.
