Summary:

River Point Farms is seeking a Plant Manager to join our leadership team. The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of the Weiser Packing Shed, ensuring that financial and production targets are met, continuous improvement is achieved, and quality standards are maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct overall activities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced, and shipped according to the efficiency goals and customer requirements while maintaining established quality and safety standards.
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that promote effective and efficient operations and comply with Quality and GMP requirements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, by engaging in a process that examines and improves processes, through analysis, ideation, and implementation, creating an culture of encouraging employees to suggest new ideas and processes that can enhance productivity and quality.
  • Monitor production and quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure crop inventory (raw and finished product) is maintained and reportable.
  • Work closely with other departments, including sales, marketing, and procurement, to ensure that production targets are met, and customer needs are fulfilled.
  • Manage the plant budget, including cost control measures and capital expenditures.
  • Lead a team of managers, supervisors, and operators on multiple shifts.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels, evaluate employee performance, and consistently apply discipline and acknowledgement for accomplishments.
  • Create and implement employee training programs to ensure staff are properly trained in plant operations, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote a healthy, high performing organizational culture through team development, encouraging continued education, motivation, driving employee engagement and retaining a strong talent pipeline.
  • Champion a safety culture for all employees and visitors by ensuring adherence to all food safety requirements, including implementation of food safety standards, internal audits, observations, and the continued maintenance of food safety controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all plant policies and procedures, safety, environmental, state and federal regulations.
  • Be an active participant in all compliance efforts, meetings, investigations, corrective actions, and audits.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • 8+ years experience in food processing with progressive responsibility managing high-performing teams.
  • Processing, warehousing, quality assurance, HSE and food safety regulations, inventory management and chemical application knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong demonstrated problem solving, leadership, team building, interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual Spanish-English preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Able and willing to learn MRP/ERP and other proprietary systems/software/programs.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean/TQM principles and/or certifications strongly desired.
  • On call availability during all hours of operation, which includes weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which includes regularly lifting and moving up to 50lbs, as well as specific vision abilities. Combination of office and warehouse time, where this position is exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock and occasionally subjected to outside weather conditions.
