Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible and effective leadership in communications, marketing, public relations, or closely related.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in brand development and management.
  • Experience in media relations and crisis communications.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Valid Florida driver license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Three years of experience providing leadership of communications and marketing campaigns in a large public school district.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • Industry specific certification such as APR or CCP.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

  • Extensive knowledge of current research, theory, and best practices related to the position.
  • Knowledge of graphic design, video production, and multimedia content creation.
  • Knowledge and skill in designing, implementing, and assessing the effectiveness of marketing strategies using data driven decision making.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Communications & Public Relations
  • Develop and execute a district-wide communication and public relations strategy to enhance the district's image and community engagement.
  • Serve as the Public Information Officer and primary spokesperson for the district, ensuring clear, transparent, and timely communication with all media sources.
  • Prepare press releases, media kits, op-eds, and other relevant materials.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the media and coordinate all media inquiries, press releases, and interviews.
  • Develop, monitor, and assist in the implementation of the district crisis communication plan.
  • Facilitate crisis communication with parents, students, employees, and the media during all district emergencies.
  • Build relationships with parents, community organizations, and business partners to foster collaboration and support for district initiatives.
  • Develop proactive communications to inform the community of district and school initiatives, events, and programs.
  • Develop internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of communication and marketing initiatives.
Marketing & Branding
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels and materials.
  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences and develop tailored initiatives and campaigns.
  • Develop and successfully implement marketing campaigns to support district initiatives, enrollment efforts, and special programs.
  • Oversee the creation of digital and print marketing materials, including brochures, newsletters, and promotional videos.
Digital & Internal Communications
  • Manage the district's social media presence, ensuring engaging and informative content.
  • Oversee the management of the district's cable TV access channel and broadcasting of all school board meetings.
  • Guide the production of high-quality creative assets including videos, graphics, and multimedia content.
  • Oversee the district and school websites and social media platforms to ensure accurate, effective communications and consistency in branding.
  • Support school principals and staff in their communication efforts to maintain alignment with district messaging and branding.
  • Remain current on social media accessibility standards and ensure all district and school social media sites meet accessibility standards.
  • Utilize data analytics to track engagement, monitor trends, and adjust strategies accordingly.
