Overview
Navitas is ready to invest in you! We are seeking an experienced Battery Management System (BMS) Engineer to design, develop, and sustain advanced BMS solutions for lithium-ion battery products aimed at military, commercial, and industrial markets.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and testing embedded firmware and BMS electronic systems.
- Support defining electrical, firmware, and system-level requirements.
- Support collaboration in cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, mechanical, and testing, to ensure effective system integration.
- Aid in root cause analysis and troubleshooting issues with electronics and firmware.
- Develop drivers, and application firmware based on documented requirements.
- Develop electronic subcircuit designs and calculations based on documented requirements.
- Use embedded system development tools such protocol analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and static analysis suites as part of firmware development.
- Utilize hardware debugging tools such as thermal cameras, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
- Identify risk using DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) or FTA (Fault Tree Analysis).
- Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary.
- Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- 3-5 years of professional experience in embedded systems
- 2+ years of experience in battery systems or related energy technologies (preferred)
OR
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
- 2+ years of experience with battery systems or related energy technologies, gained through coursework, internships, or co-op programs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be comfortable supporting US-military funded work and building products for military testing and use.
- Solid communication skills for clear technical discussion.
- Understanding of clean, maintainable code practices.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, circuit designs, and hardware documentation.
- Ability to perform PCB rework using hot-air stations and microscopy, and build prototype wiring harnesses.
- Understanding of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, CANOpen, J1939, and UDS.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability analyze root causes.
