The Information Technology and Records Management Department is looking for an After-Hours Systems Administrator II to perform system administrator jobs and tasks supporting Metro's evening operations.

As the After-Hours Systems Administrator II you will
  • Provide technical assistance and support to Metro's evening and weekend operations.
  • Install and configure common IT infrastructure technology.
  • Work with higher level Systems Administrators to coordinate the installation of advanced IT Infrastructure technology.
  • Resolve common network infrastructure, server, and operating system issues.
  • Monitor network operations under supervision of higher-level Systems Administrators.
  • Troubleshoot problems and ensure that equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and backup activities.
  • Support agency sustainability and equity goals by replacing old IT infrastructure equipment, particularly at sites and locations that may be otherwise overlooked.
  • Perform common IT infrastructure updates.

Minimum qualifications
  • 1-3 year of related professional experience and
  • A bachelor's degree or
  • Any combination of education, professional, volunteer and lived experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to perform those activities necessary to complete the essential functions of the job, either with or without reasonable accommodation. Schedule

This position's hours will be nights and weekends, typically Thursday to Monday, 2pm to 11pm. Some variance can be made for scheduling, but the majority of the hours will be in the evening.

Hybrid Telework

At this time, this position is designated as "hybrid telework." You will have the option to work away from the office, although there may be times that coming into the office will be required. The manager will work with you to identify a schedule that balances the operational needs of the department and your needs. Employees must reside in Oregon or Washington to work at Metro

You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider them when identifying the most qualified candidates. Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience, including the military, or life experience that are relevant for this position.
  • Previous experience working in a union an environment.
  • Previous experience with server, network, wireless, storage, UPS upgrades and installations.
  • Experience with low voltage cabling and common IT connections/interfaces.
  • Previous experience with IT request tracking and monitoring systems.
  • Previous experience with asset management and CMDB.
  • Basic experience with IT change management.
  • Windows Server experience.
  • Basic Cisco IOS experience.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATON

The full-salary range for this position is step 1. $84,760.00 to step 7. $113,630.40. However, unless a candidate's qualifications justify, based on the requirements and Metro's internal equity review process, the appointment will likely be made between step 1. $84,760.00 to the equity range step 4. $98,155.20.

This position is not eligible for overtime and is represented by AFSCME 3580. It is classified as a Systems Administrator II classification.
