Position Summary

The IT Manager will manage Fractyl's Information Technology Infrastructure and End User Services. This person will also supervise Fractyl's Managed Services Provider (MSP) to ensure the user community has a highly productive work environment, and an effective support model. The IT Manager will have responsibilities split between IT project management and Infrastructure/End User Support. The role will be responsible for managing a 24x7 Service Desk team and desktop support, helping to oversee infrastructure and collaboration tools, and efficiently handle change control processes. This role is based on-site in our Burlington office. We partner with multiple Managed Services Provider (MSPs), and this role will need to interact daily with these MSPs to support our corporate IT environment.
Primary Responsibilities

End User Support:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT onsite support in the Burlington office
  • Manage overall effectiveness and efficiency of Fractyl infrastructure systems and End User Services (EUS) by leveraging Fractyl's MSP
  • Maintain local shared resources, such as conference rooms, printers, laptops, docking stations, and other hardware
  • Interact with our Managed Service Providers to ensure timely onsite and offsite backups, resolution of requests, and related tasks
  • Responsible for new hire onboarding and training, and provide end user training as needed on any core IT software
  • Proactively address IT issues and look to continually improve technology systems, and handle service desk escalations
  • Manage software licenses, and purchase order requisitions
  • Provide IT asset inventory management
  • Collaborate with scientists to integrate lab equipment and ensure appropriate data security measures are in place
  • Work with IT MSP to manage the core infrastructure and application portfolio, including:
    • Azure
    • MS Entra
    • Office 365
    • MS D365
    • Smartsheet
    • Backups

Security and Compliance:
  • Work with leadership to establish and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect sensitive data, intellectual property, and critical infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, GxP, FDA guidelines, and data privacy laws as required
  • In collaboration with Fractyl's MSP and partners, conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis to identify and address potential security threats

Project Management:
  • Serve as project manager for IT systems' deployments
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, coordinate project team members, and determine necessary resource responsibilities
  • Work with project stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met
  • Develop and communicate project updates, including risk assessments
  • Leverage project management tools to track project performance and schedule adherence
  • Organize meetings to discuss project goals and progress
  • PM work includes enterprise systems such as Microsoft D365, and SmartSheet

Vendor Management:
  • Manage MSP to ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met and maximum value is attained from the MSP
  • Interact with and assist in managing outside vendors, outsourcers, and service providers to procure and deliver technology products, services, and contracts as required
  • Collaborate with Fractyl legal department to negotiate contracts and SLAs to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of IT solutions and services

Cost Management:
  • Manage IT expenditures
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency in areas such as hardware standardization, software consolidation, and license management

Perform all activities in compliance with applicable regulations, Fractyl's policies and guidelines, including, but not limited to, timely documentation of activities and maintaining all required applicable training.

Education or Certification Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA, ITL 4, or similar preferred.
Professional Work Experience
  • 4-6 years of end user infrastructure support experience.
  • Applicable experience in biotech, pharmaceutical and/or medical device industries preferred.
  • Prior vocational experience in related fields a plus (i.e. Co-Ops, Internships, Fellowships, etc.).

This position requires no regular travel.
