What you will do?

Reporting to the Vice President, Executive Development and Succession Planning, the Director, Talent Assessment and Development will lead executive assessment and talent management efforts to ensure VF maintains a global talent pipeline of leaders ready to drive business outcomes today and in the future. This role presents a unique opportunity to build a new capability for VF. While the priority will be on talent assessment, identification, and development for senior leadership positions, this role will also be responsible for developing the talent assessment philosophy and portfolio for the entire organization.

  • Design and implement a phased, multi-year strategy to build and manage an executive leadership assessment center to identify and develop c-suite and critical role incumbents and successors.
  • Design a global assessment philosophy and manage the broader global talent assessment portfolio, including assessments used to support talent development, management, and selection.
  • Build and implement a strategy for the scaled use of success profiles and talent assessments, through building the capability, buy-in, and discipline of HR and business leaders globally.
  • Lead the selection and validation of assessments used at VF, as well as leveraging data to gain an understanding of succession health and executive talent development needs.
  • Debrief leaders on assessment results and provide coaching to help them accelerate their development.
  • Facilitate process to develop, monitor and support executive development plans.
  • Partner with HR Technology team to optimize the use of Workday modules and/or identify new technologies to support assessment and critical role succession.
  • In partnership with the Head of Global Learning and Development, design and lead global executive coaching practice comprised of external executive coaches and internal talent leaders to accelerate the development of senior leaders.
  • Collaborate across Talent Management leaders to integrate assessment, critical role succession planning, and executive development into other talent processes.
  • Identify and establish relationships with external vendors to accelerate the executive assessment and development strategy.
  • Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues related to executive assessment and talent management.
  • Develop success criteria, metrics and dashboards to monitor program efficiency and effectiveness.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Masters in Organizational Psychology, HR, or Masters related field; PhD preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in a variety of Talent Management/Human Resource positions with increasing scope of responsibility.
  • Technical talent assessment experience in a large, global, matrixed organization, including deep expertise on validation methodologies.
  • Certifications and experience utilizing Korn Ferry's Profile Manager and Talent Suite, Hogan Assessments, and other psychometric tools, including integrating these tools to provide comprehensive views of talent.
  • Experience working with a partner to design and utilize simulation-based assessment and development.
  • Knowledge of psychometric testing approaches and legal implications.
  • Experience debriefing assessment data, providing feedback and ongoing coaching to senior level executives and helping them translate feedback into development plans, as well as providing debriefs to executives to inform talent decisions.
  • Experience developing strong and trusted relationships with HR Business Partners and HR COEs to maximize results.
  • Experiencing driving results in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple complex projects.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to link executive development initiatives to the business strategy.
  • Curiosity and affinity for using AI and technology to find more effective and efficient ways to improve.


Hiring Range:
$138,240.00 USD - $172,800.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
