Atlanta Beltline, Inc. is the official implementation agency for the Atlanta Beltline, the 22-mile rail-to-trail conversion that's one of the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs in the United States. Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) is seeking a visionary and globally minded leader to serve as Vice President of Transit Innovation. This executive will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge, equitable transit solutions across the Atlanta Beltline corridor. The Vice President of Transit Innovation will leverage global best practices and emerging technologies to deliver transformative mobility systems that support sustainable growth, reduce disparities, and improve access for all Atlantans.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute an innovative strategy that brings world-class, next-generation transit solutions to the Beltline.
Advise ABI's executive team and Board on the best international practices, mobility trends, and technologies that can be adapted to Atlanta's unique context.
Align transit innovation efforts with ABI's goals for sustainability, equity, and regional connectivity.
Collaboration & Engagement:
Partner with MARTA, City of Atlanta, regional agencies, and international experts to inform and coordinate transit delivery strategies.
Engage with diverse communities and ensure innovation strategies are rooted in local needs and equitable outcomes.
Foster global-local partnerships with transportation innovators, academic institutions, and public/private organizations.
Policy, Planning, and Funding:
Shape policy recommendations to support advanced transit service models and infrastructure delivery.
Identify and secure funding sources, including federal grants, philanthropic partnerships, and private-sector investment.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while pushing the boundaries of innovative service delivery.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Develop KPIs to track progress of innovation initiatives and communicate results to stakeholders.
Provide transparent, public-facing updates to the Board, city leaders, and the community on transit innovation efforts.
Communication and Public Engagement:
Demonstrate strong public speaking and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences, including community members, government officials, and international partners.
Represent ABI at public forums, conferences, and media engagements, articulating the vision for transit innovation and fostering support from diverse stakeholders.
Lead initiatives to ensure that all communication efforts are inclusive, data-driven, and accessible to all stakeholders, enhancing public trust and buy-in for innovative transit solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation, Public Policy, or related field (Master's preferred).
At least 10 years of leadership experience in transit planning, innovation, or public infrastructure.
Exceptional communication skills, with expertise in public speaking and presentation, and the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders effectively.
Demonstrated knowledge of international transit delivery models and emerging technologies.
Proven ability to lead multi-agency, cross-sector, and community-driven initiatives.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, data-informed decision-making.
Selection Criteria:
Experience with international or large-scale transit projects in dense urban environments.
Familiarity with Atlanta's transportation landscape, the Beltline vision, and community development strategies.
Background in public-private partnerships, urban redevelopment, or mobility innovation labs.
