What You'll Contribute
This position supports Sallie Mae Bank's asset backed funding program and loan sales program. The individual will play a key role in the issuance execution process, rating agency and investor reporting, and analysis in deal performance. The individual is expected to build a thorough knowledge of the operations of Sallie Mae and its business practices as they progress their career with the company.
The individual is expected to demonstrate the ability to learn how to accurately reverse engineer ABS debt structures, and effectively interpret and report results. The Senior Associate is expected to be proficient in Excel to maintain modeling and reporting tools, solve issues, and develop enhancements to improve efficiency and analysis. The Senior Associate is expected to be experienced in utilizing SQL for data analysis, code optimization, and reporting.
The Senior Associate is expected to interact with the Finance, Legal, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, and Audit departments as well as with external investment banks, accountants, and counsel. The individual must have the ability to think clearly and independently and possess strong communication skills. The individual should possess the ability to work in a time-sensitive, deadline driven environment.

What You'll Do
- Support all front and middle-office activities for new ABS issuances and Loan Sales
- Execute loan to file review with the accountant
- Execute pool analysis package to the rating agencies and structuring bank
- Ensure legal disclosures supporting the transaction are accurate
- Coordinate with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure proper deal closing
- Execute monthly reporting and distribution to key external stakeholders
- Compile monthly market pricing data and share with internal stakeholders
- Analyze deal performance and execute Fair Market Valuation
- Optimize code for performance, scalability, and efficiency. Resolve issues and improve functionality for process supporting ABS reporting and analytics
- Assist in response to internal and external audits conducted on an annual basis for the securitization program and conduit facility
- Ad-hoc analysis and reporting as requested by leadership
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk and increase efficiencies
What you have
Minimum education, skills and experience required.
- Bachelors' Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in ABS securitizations, structured finance, or quantitative analysis in a financial institution
- Knowledge in ABS structures and understanding of cashflow modeling
- Experience in reviewing securitization documentation
- Strong proficiency using Excel, VBA, SQL, and SAS
- Experience in using Bloomberg and Intex
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Self-starter with strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines
