We are currently looking for aSenior Auditor to join our Audit Services team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Manager, Audit Services, you will work closely with the enterprise-wide audit team where you will execute business process and compliance-based Assurance & Advisory activities for all Emera affiliates across multiple jurisdictions including US, Canada, and the Caribbean.

As Senior Auditor you will:

  • Execute assurance and advisory engagements and provide governance, risk and control related professional expertise
  • Perform risk assessments and develop audit testing programs based on assessment of control and risk environment
  • Maintain relationships with affiliate employees, stay informed on risks and strategic initiatives impacting applicable affiliates, and gain consensus regarding potentially contentious or sensitive items
  • Identify process improvement and efficiency opportunities in support of the organization's overall strategy to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in all processes and to build organizational capacity
  • Monitor remediation associated with previous audit issues, provide ongoing consultation on remediation approach
  • Ensure Audit Services deliverables adhere to budget and timelines and are socialized with applicable management prior to finalization

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree with a concentration in a business, engineering, technology, or related discipline
  • Certifications demonstrating a breadth of knowledge over internal audit, business, or technology (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.)
  • You bring a minimum of three (3) years of direct or related work experience. Previous experience in an internal audit or internal controls-based environment would be advantageous. Related experience consists of public accounting or financial analysis/processes.
  • Working knowledge of audit concepts and techniques as well as a broad understanding of enterprise risk, corporate governance, and process and control design
  • Highly detailed oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience facilitating challenging discussions and providing recommendations regarding critical areas of focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to remain focused and deliver results in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment
  • The desire to leverage computer-assisted auditing techniques for data analytics, previous experience with Arbutus, IDEA or ACL is preferable
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards, including IIA Standards
