About the role:

Join our mission as a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of innovative solutions aimed at transforming healthcare and operations through technology, with a primary focus on Epic systems. You will directly and meaningfully impact the experience of millions of people. This role requires a strong technical foundation, with the ability to design, build, and support scalable, distributed systems across healthcare and operational platforms, particularly in Epic environments. As an experienced engineer seeking an opportunity to shape the future of technology-enabled healthcare and operational processes, we hope you'll consider joining our team.

This position supports various IT systems and applications, with a focus on analyzing, designing, and optimizing Epic systems to enhance healthcare delivery and operational processes. The role offers opportunities to work across multiple platforms and evolving technology needs, collaborating with diverse teams, including clinical and operational staff, to design, test, and enhance system functionality.

This role requires in-office presence in our New York office four days per week.

What you'll be doing:
  • Lead design and implementation of technical solutions for Epic-related initiatives, ensuring the system design meets scalability, performance, and security requirements
  • Collaborate with product designers, product managers, and other software engineers to deliver Epic-integrated features with high quality
  • Work with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype technology, and evaluate technical feasibility
  • Make critical engineering decisions considering risks, trade-offs, and alternative solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement in our Epic systems and development processes within an agile development team
  • Write automated unit and integration tests as appropriate to support our continuous integration pipelines, with a focus on DevOps and robust automation
  • Spearhead investigations, production issues, and bugs related to Epic applications
  • Identify tech debt before it becomes an issue and work with the team to prioritize it appropriately
  • Mentor other engineers and improve engineering processes to increase team effectiveness


What we're looking for:
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience building scalable systems, with exposure to Epic systems and healthcare technologies preferred
  • Experience in designing and developing services with APIs that are efficient, well-tested, and easy to maintain
  • Experience with building APIs using GraphQL and Apollo Federation
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Kotlin, NodeJS, and Typescript, with experience in service frameworks like NestJS and Micronaut
  • Experience with modern cloud technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and GCP/AWS suite
  • Extensive experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Epic applications across Clinical, Revenue Cycle, and Technical domains
  • Knowledge of full software development lifecycle best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical/reasoning skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-driven, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to deliver with little supervision

Bonus:
  • Epic certifications in areas like EpicCare IP - Clin Doc, EpicCare IP - Orders, IP Pharmacy, EpicCare Amb, Revenue Integrity, Business Intelligence, and Cross-App Support
  • Experience conducting interviews with key stakeholders to understand and document current business processes
  • Experience defining future state business processes
  • Experience planning, tracking, and delivering Epic-related projects using Microsoft Project and documenting processes in Microsoft Visio
  • Experience managing and delivering via an Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Familiarity with virtual health, cloud, interoperability, data analytics, and/or automation

Compensation:

$170,000-$200,000 USD

We offer competitive compensation packages based on industry benchmarks for function, level, and geographic location. Offer amounts are determined by multiple factors such as a candidate's experience and expertise.
