Job Summary:
The Preconstruction Project Manager (Precon PM) will be responsible for transitioning late-stage development projects (pre financial investment decision) into the construction phase (post financial investment decision), which may include solar, solar/BESS, stand-alone BESS, and wind energy projects. The Precon PM will report to the Director of Project Management - Preconstruction and work closely with Preconstruction Estimating and Procurement team members to provide input into budget, schedule, and contracting decisions. The Project Manager will collaborate with a team of internal stakeholders including estimating, procurement, development, origination, interconnection, legal, contracts, and permitting.

Job Summary:

Essential Functions:
- Perform early-stage project risk assessments and risk mitigation in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Develop project scopes and corresponding documents to support EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) RFP (Request for Proposals) efforts.
- Provide leadership in stakeholder engagement and reporting to ensure that project stakeholders are properly informed and accountable for workstreams and work products.
- Promote and ensure compliance with LRE safety standards and promote LRE safety culture at all times.
- Must have a strong understanding of estimating, project costs, budgets, & schedules and be able to provide forecast impacts to project schedules, milestones, budgets, cashflows, and other workstreams.
- Assist in evaluation of RFP proposals by reviewing scope, assumptions, and exclusions.
- Verify owner supplied equipment and contractual obligations with procurement prior to and during the RFP process.
- Facilitate the hand-off from Development to the execution PM, ensuring oversight and close-out of action items which occur during the Preconstruction, RFP, & Contracting phases of a project.
- Interface with all project team members, tracking issues and facilitating and expediting solutions.
- Responsible for maintaining clear and concise communications, keeping accurate records and thorough documentation throughout all phases of the project such that all stakeholders are informed and knowledgeable of key decisions points during the course of a project.
- Interface with development team members on projects in early and mid-stage development to facilitate a project moving into the RFP/Contracting phases (e.g. constructability analysis, EPC estimates/ROMs, financial, permitting support, other items, etc.).
- Support PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) and LGIA negotiations and execution.
- Perform due diligence on possible acquisition projects by reviewing schedule and key documents for construction requirements
- Work with developers and project controls to develop and provide input to project schedules in the pipeline.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of construction safety requirements.
- Strong understanding of interconnection agreements and requirements
- Experience managing construction on renewable energy projects.
- Desired experience to include in-depth knowledge of at least three of the following: civil construction, structural/foundation construction, electrical construction, turbine erection, solar module assembly, testing & commissioning, preparing for and supporting various project financial/tax equity closes, and achieving utility commercial operation designations.
- A minimum of 3 years of renewable energy experience, or have completed not less than 3 wind, BESS, and/or solar farm construction projects as a project manager or has minimum of 3 years of Preconstruction experience.
- Understanding of and experience negotiating and/or managing renewable energy project contracts including EPC/BOP, testing & commissioning, turbine, module, and/or battery supplier agreements.
- Extensive project management skills with a record of accomplishment of achieving success on complex projects.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills.
- Strong computer skills, high excel skills preferred. Data analytics skills are a plus.
- Strong managerial/leadership skills.
- Undergraduate degree required.
