If you like being on the forefront of product development and improvement, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Structural Validation Team in our Earthmoving Division as a Test and Validation Engineer! This role performs on-machine structural testing in support of New Product Development (NPI) and Continuous Improvement Projects (CPI). This includes test planning, set up, execution, resolution of results, and consulting with design and analysis team members to ensure structural durability across a broad range of Caterpillar structures. Testing will primarily occur at the Tucson Proving Ground, however, testing at select customer locations is also performed.

What You Will Do:
- Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing, ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
- Collaborating with product design, simulation, and machine development engineers to plan On-Machine Stress Analysis (OMSA).
- Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer-aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
- Interfacing with mechanics, instrumentation technicians, and operators to execute tests.
- Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
- Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities, and performance reliability.
- Cleaning and evaluating data, providing results to the business units in the form of technical letters and presentations.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
- Degree requirement: Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum OR equivalent experience working in an Engineering function.
- Project Management: Ability to perform technical assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Organizational, communication, and presentation skills are required.
- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of construction products, ability to understand the design, test and simulation process and standards.
- Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Ability to effectively communicate technical information and solutions with internal and external stakeholders. This position is hands-on and will require time on machines as well as in office.
- Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques, and tools. Design and/or simulation experience with machine structures or similar work experience in a related industry.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Experience running machine tests to evaluate structural durability or measure structural loads.
- Working knowledge of Creo, Creo Simulate, FEA, Clink, Dynasty, and/or TVA.
Additional Info:
- Caterpillar requires employees to work onsite in the office fulltime.
- Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify.
- Up to 10% travel to the Peoria Proving Ground (PPG) and customer job sites (possibly international) is required.

- ISE assignments are not offered.
