Culmen International is seeking a Genomic Characterization Staff Scientist to support a USAMRIID program in Fort Detrick, MD.
The Genomic Characterization Staff Scientist will perform advanced molecular biology research involving sequencing, genomic analysis, and molecular characterization to support threat agent surveillance and countermeasure discovery.
What You'll Do in Your New Role
- Conduct genomic sequencing and analysis of bacterial/viral agents.
- Perform nucleic acid extractions and library preparation.
- Use bioinformatics tools to analyze and interpret sequencing data.
- Contribute to technical reports and manuscripts.
- Work under BSL-2/3 conditions as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, genomics, or related field.
- 4+ years in molecular biology or genomics.
- Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing platforms.
- Proficiency with software tools like BLAST, GATK, and CLC Genomics.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred.
