As the Director of Cloud Software Engineering - Backend, you will lead the strategy, execution, and growth of TP-Link's backend cloud platform. As the Director of Cloud Software Engineering - Backend, you will lead the strategy, execution, and growth of TP-Link's backend cloud platform. This role blends deep technical expertise with strong leadership, guiding multiple engineering teams to build scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services that support our global user base.
You'll work closely with executive leadership, product teams, and other technical stakeholders to shape the future of TP-Link's cloud ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the backend cloud engineering organization, including multiple teams across regions.
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for cloud backend services powering TP-Link's smart device platforms.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality software with a focus on scalability, availability, performance, and security.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with product, mobile, frontend, DevOps, and security teams to ensure seamless end-to-end product delivery.
- Set engineering standards and best practices across architecture, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, focusing on team health and leadership development.
- Oversee execution of large-scale projects, timelines, and resource planning.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies that can accelerate innovation and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Ph.D. a plus.
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in technical leadership roles, including managing engineering managers and large distributed teams.
- Proven experience designing and scaling cloud-native backend systems (preferably on AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Deep expertise in backend technologies such as Go, Java, or Python, and cloud architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven, serverless).
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), message queues (Kafka, MQTT), and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Experience building and running high-availability services in production with strong observability and incident response practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align engineering initiatives with company goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IoT or connected device platforms.
- Familiarity with security and privacy practices for cloud services at scale.
- Background in managing global engineering teams.
- Contributions to open-source or published technical content.
