Our design system, Workday Canvas, provides the resources vital to design and build applications to look and feel just like the rest of Workday. The design system is run like an open source project that is created and led by the team but contributed to by all. In collaboration with our design teams, this combination of tooling, components, and guidelines enable product people to create consistent, exceptional experiences at a fast pace.
About the Role
As Product Manager you'll drive the strategy and direction of our design system with input from the design system team, creative strategy team, and design leadership. You will drive the roadmap for how our design system translates across surfaces, and partner closely with our platform and product teams on adoption and integration. You'll coordinate the suite of products in our design system, evangelizing to our cross-functional partners and senior leaders.

About the Role
As Product Manager you'll drive the strategy and direction of our design system with input from the design system team, creative strategy team, and design leadership. You will drive the roadmap for how our design system translates across surfaces, and partner closely with our platform and product teams on adoption and integration. You'll coordinate the suite of products in our design system, evangelizing to our cross-functional partners and senior leaders.
You will:
- Define and lead the strategy of the Canvas Design System and related roadmap based on customer asks, internal team needs, team vision, and strategy - working with cross-discipline representatives.
- Collaborate with key partners to determine dates, scope, and prioritization of initiatives.
- Connect with key partners and management on vision, direction, release plans, and strategy.
- Present the system's mission, library, and process to other groups, including product managers, content specialists, QA, and other design and development teams throughout the company.
- Identify partner concerns and production issues, mitigating functional challenges and improving customer satisfaction. Decisively resolving priorities, timing, risks, and possible breaking changes.
- Facilitate collaboration and alignment across the design system organization to achieve our objectives.
About You
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a product manager in a UI, UX, Design, or Mobile applications team.
Other Qualifications
- Excellent self-starter with a track record of detailed execution on sophisticated projects with minimal direction.
- Understand technical solutions and how they impact users and overall product delivery
- Strong facilitation and partner collaboration skills and are comfortable working side-by-side with leaders.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse groups such as designers, researchers, and developers.
- Ability to communicate clearly in whatever way the situation calls for - in writing, with visuals and data, with prototypes, and in person.
- Develop a strategy, defend it, and win over key business partners
- Deeply curious, and have a bias towards action. You are a lifelong learner, mentor & teacher: We want you to always look for opportunities to push beyond your comfort zone to develop & improve your individual superpowers.
- Solid understanding of development, design, and research and ideally have worked closely with design, research, and development teams.
- Excellent analytical abilities demonstrating good judgment and problem-solving ability.
- Track record translating objectives into measurable outcomes.
We'd love it if
- Show how you've elevated your product or team by infusing AI technologies into their flow of work.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React.js), Node.js/NPM.
- You have a working understanding of web performance & optimization.
- Have worked on or with a design system team before.
