Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of System Studies and Simulation (S), providing a variety of aviation services to commercial, Government, and Partner Nation customers.
KBFS has locations in Temple, TX; Crestview, FL; and Geneva, AL.KBFS currently holds certifications for CFR 14 FAA Part 133 (External Loads), 135 (Non-Scheduled Transport), 137 (Agricultural Spray Operations), 141 (Flight Training), and 145 (Repair Station).In addition to its current commercial operations, KBFS provides contract aviation support to the Department of Defense, other US Federal Agencies, and US-approved Foreign Militaries and security organizations.The S/KBFS Crestview, FL International ISR Training Academy provides pilot, mission system operator, flying crew chief, and loadmaster qualification training in air-land, airdrop, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission sets.
KBFS Geneva provides Fixed Base Operations support for the Geneva Municipal Airport and is the recipient of the 2023 FAA Award for Airport Manager of the Year under Manager Bryan Pike.KBFS Temple provides Flight Training, Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics support, and Commercial Aviation Operations.
KBFS is seeking a General Manager (GM) to work at our home office in Huntsville, AL.
This is not a teleworking position.
KBFS, Subsidiary to S3, Inc., is chartered for commercial and federally contracted aviation operations requiring the corporation to purchase and/or lease aircraft, either fixed or rotary wing (Contractor owned, contractor operated [COCO]. Operations may include airfield ops, aviation training, and aviation maintenance, The KBFS General Manager is accountable for strategic-level leadership, management, and strategic vision necessary to ensure that the subsidiary has the proper operational controls, administrative staff, reporting procedures, and personnel in place to execute the missions and grow the organization effectively. The GM is accountable for the financial strength and operating efficiency to generate the projected profitability. The GM establishes and maintains the operational culture, safety, and ethics of KBFS to ensure both the integrity and operational safety of the sites. With this accountability, the GM functions as a senior management team member of the S3 Corporation. The GM is responsible for the development and execution of a 5-year business plan for KBFS with direct management of government and commercial programs at multiple sites.

Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, and directs all business development and marketing functions, coordinating and cooperating with other technical departments.
- Develops operating budgets and business plans to support company objectives and executive-approved plans.
- Responsible for the employment, training, motivation, and discipline of assigned employees.
- Serves as primary customer for program and department information.
- Regularly interfaces with customer representatives to maintain open communications and to develop and expand business opportunities.
- Ensures that the subsidiary maintains total responsiveness to corporate and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or engineering with 15 years of aviation management or military aviation experience.
- The General Manager (GM) for KBFS must have extensive knowledge of military and commercial flight training, maintenance, and fixed base operations.
- The GM should have both military and commercial aviation leadership experience and have a working knowledge of commercial aviation maintenance procedures.
- The GM should have a thorough knowledge of FAA rules and regulations.
- The GM should have experience in federal contract management, FAR/DFARS, profit and loss, aviation insurance, and aviation safety requirements.
- This position requires 30% travel to our field sites in Geneva, AL, Crestview, FL, Temple, TX, and others to be developed.
