Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the daily operations including the cost, quality and delivery of service of the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Lower Manhattan Hospital. To plan, coordinate, and direct the administration of clinical and operational activity for the campus in accordance with the Hospital's mission, vision, values, and regulatory requirements. Function as an administrative liaison to the clinical departments and to serve as a member of the Hospital's senior management team. Overall operational responsibility for the hospital during periods when the Emergency Preparedness Plan ("Disaster Plan") is in effect.

Managing these functions effectively is a key component to achieving the organization's mission of being the premier academic medical center in New York.

Essential Job Duties
Ensures that the highest standards of quality of care and service delivery are maintained.
Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies, licensure and voluntary accreditation agency standards.
Responsible for the attainment of short-and long-term financial and operational goals. Provides overall financial oversight and monitoring.
Administers operational expense budgets, identifies, analyzes and implements programs that improve revenue.
Identifies resource requirements and allocates capital, space, and operational dollars to achieve maximum effectiveness in meeting organizational goals.
Contributes to the development of operating and capital budgets according to the budget calendar; monitors monthly and other financial statements for the organization; takes effective corrective action as required.
Implements effective cost control measures, monitoring and ensuring compliance with fiscal policy.
Negotiates contracts and execute leases as necessary.
Collaborates with Service line leadership
Provides guidance and leadership through management of the NYP metrics and measurement reporting process.
Review and approve personnel actions such as hiring, termination, and discipline.
Investigates and mediates employee relations concerns.
Directs and coordinates the process of developing goals and objectives for assigned departments to ensure they are consistent with the overall plans for the institution and that they promote cohesive, integrated and efficient functioning of the hospital.
Assists department heads/directors in developing plans to organize and direct work activities, establish system control procedures, allocating staff to various work functions, and automating various management information systems.
Reviews and approves departmental operating policies and procedures and coordinates the process of implementation of hospital-wide policies and administrative directives. Interprets administrative and personnel policies and procedures for departmental heads.
Plans, directs and coordinates construction and refurbishing projects and monitor project progress against accepted timetables.
Coordinates relocations as necessary. Develops and implements systems to monitor the division's performance against budget and established quality control standards.
Identifies variances and works with department heads to develop and implement plans to correct ineffective operations.
Conceives, designs, proposes and implements unique administrative and operational systems to support clinical programs.
Completes or directs the completion of studies to evaluate various operations using generally accepted financial analysis and operations research techniques.
Establishes and maintains liaison with hospital and medical college department heads, division heads, administrators, and clinical chiefs to foster and maintain effective and productive working relationships.
Attends and serves on professional and civic organizations as hospital representative, as appropriate.
Establishes and maintains mechanisms to promote communication within the division such as department head meetings.
Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Work Experience
Minimum of 7-10 years or more of job-related experience (R)
Knowledge of Finance, accounting, reimbursement, management principles, productions systems, Joint Commission, NYS-DOH, NYC-FDNY, REMSCO and other regulatory agency standards, in addition to extensive and in-depth knowledge of hospital systems, operations, and medical college priorities (R)
Extensive knowledge in several specialized disciplines and ability to integrate critical information from many diverse areas (R)
Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge (R)

Salary Range:

$275,000-$325,000/Annual
