As the Business Systems Architect at Nextdoor, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our business systems landscape. This role focuses on Workday Financials , HCM Modules, with additional expertise in Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Salesforce architecture, and Go-To-Market (GTM) systems etc. You will collaborate across teams to architect scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency and align with Nextdoor's strategic goals. This role is a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, requiring a leader who can both design cutting-edge IT solutions and roll up their sleeves to implement them.

As the Business Systems Architect, you will play a crucial role in leading the Business systems team and driving the strategic direction of Business systems and ensuring scalable and optimized performance and integration.
As the Business Systems Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Nextdoor's enterprise systems landscape by leveraging industry-leading frameworks like TOGAF to align business objectives with technology strategies and design and implement scalable architectures across critical domains such as Workday Financials, HCM, Salesforce, and GTM systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, you will ensure compliance with governance frameworks like SOX, maintain robust security controls, and foster innovation to support Nextdoor's mission of building stronger communities.

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create our total rewards package. Compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation may also vary by geography.
The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $200,000 to $225,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role.
We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within 3 months of your start date.

Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a scalable business systems architecture strategy, focusing on Workday Financials & HCM, Salesforce, and GTM systems to align with Nextdoor's operational goals
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define and deliver technology roadmaps that enhance operational efficiency and support long-term scalability
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating business objectives into actionable technical plans
Enterprise Systems Design & Optimization
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Workday Financials & HCM to streamline financial & HCM processes
- Architect end-to-end solutions for Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Salesforce platforms to ensure seamless integration and data integrity
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with teams across Finance, Accounting, IT, RevOps, and GTM functions to align technical solutions with business needs
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build consensus on system design decisions
- Facilitate workshops and discussions to gather requirements and drive alignment on system capabilities
Compliance & Security
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as SOX by implementing governance frameworks for system security and data integrity
- Proactively identify risks in system architecture and establish robust controls to safeguard sensitive information
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends including AI to identify opportunities for innovation within enterprise business systems
- Conduct regular assessments of existing systems to identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to improve performance
- Drive initiatives to modernize legacy systems while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead a high-performing team of business systems professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and growth
- Mentor team members by providing guidance on best practices, technical skills development, and career progression
- Define clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for the team to measure success and drive accountability
Operational Excellence
- Oversee the full lifecycle of system implementations, from planning through go-live, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Establish metrics to monitor system performance and proactively address any issues that arise
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations, to optimize value from technology investments
- Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team building exercises
- Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to Nextdoor's company culture
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field;
- 8+ years of experience in business systems architecture, enterprise automations and integrations
- Deep expertise in Workday Financials Accounting, Procurement, Expenses and HCM
- Extensive knowledge of O2C, P2P processes, Salesforce architecture, and GTM systems
- Proven ability to architect scalable solutions across ERP systems like Workday and CRM platforms like Salesforce
- Experience with middleware tools such as Workato for scalable system integrations
- Strong understanding of automation workflows and enterprise software
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Experience leading high-performing teams across technology domains
- Bonus Points : Relevant certifications in Workday or similar ERP and HCM systems
