The Role We are seeking a skilled Data Analytics Engineer to design, develop, and implement data solutions that transform raw information into actionable insights for our federal and commercial clients. This role combines technical expertise in data engineering with analytical skills to build robust data pipelines, create advanced analytics models, and develop visualization solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data architecture, statistical analysis, and modern data technologies to help our clients make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities Data Engineering and Architecture
  • Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data
  • Create and maintain scalable data processing frameworks using cloud-based and on-premises solutions
  • Implement data governance practices, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance
  • Develop data models and schemas that support analytical and operational needs
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate data systems and ensure infrastructure reliability
  • Build and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and other storage solutions
  • Automate data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention

Analytics and Modeling
  • Develop advanced analytics solutions using statistical methods and machine learning techniques
  • Create predictive models and algorithms to identify trends and patterns in complex datasets
  • Implement data mining techniques to extract valuable insights from structured and unstructured data
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover hidden patterns and correlations
  • Design and develop dashboards and reporting solutions for data visualization
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate business questions into data queries
  • Optimize queries and analytical processes for performance and scalability

Stakeholder Collaboration and Implementation
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements and desired outcomes
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences
  • Develop documentation for data models, processes, and analytical methodologies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior data analysts and engineers
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and analytics
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership and client stakeholders
  • Support the implementation of data-driven solutions that address business challenges

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages for data processing and analysis
  • Proficiency with SQL and experience working with relational databases
  • Hands-on experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) and data warehousing concepts
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning techniques
  • Experience with data modeling and architecture design
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Knowledge of data governance and security requirements, especially in government contexts
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be located in the Washington DC Metro Area

Work Location: Hybrid (Rockville, MD up to 3 days per week)
