Job Summary

The Vice President of Surgical Services provides executive leadership and strategic direction for all surgical services across a multi-region, multi-site health system. The position ensures operational efficiency, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability while fostering collaboration with regional leaders, nursing, acute care, medical staff, ambulatory care, and shared services teams. Maintains accountability for the provision of high-quality outcomes, coordination of patient care across the organization that is consistent with the Novant Health cause and strategic plan. Functions as a dynamic leader to boldly foster a highly collaborative, outcomes-driven team focused on accountability and shared decision making in all that we do. Maintains focus on team wellbeing, safety & quality, patient experience, operational excellence growth, and innovation.

This position is responsible for the entire scope of acute Surgical Services (i,e. pre/post-surgical, intra operative, post operative, anesthesia, centralized surgical scheduling, sterile processing, surgery navigation and business operations, and endoscopy services).

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in surgical services, including multi-site or multi-region operations
    • Demonstrated expertise in operational efficiency, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance in surgical services
    • Proven track record of strategic planning and financial management
  • Licensure/Certification: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • In-depth knowledge of surgical modalities including pre surgical, intra operative, post operative, surgical services float pool and endoscopy services.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire a sense of belonging.
    • Financial acumen and data-driven decision-making skills
    • Ability to lead complex, diverse teams and drive operational excellence
    • Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and innovation
