Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

As a Principal Technical Product Manager for software on the Project Kuiper team, you will create and drive the product strategy, vision, and technology roadmap for mobility products for aviation, including the customer terminal, connectivity, power, and system software. This role focuses on integrating satellite connectivity with onboard systems to deliver seamless passenger experience and airline operations. This role is inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance, and executive teams to envision, develop, and launch innovative aviation products and services.

A successful candidate will be both creative and highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. Key job responsibilities
Manage the entire product line life cycle from inception to launch, bringing in deep expertise in one or more technical areas:

- Linux networking protocols and infrastructure with hands-on experience in Kubernetes networking and cloud networking architectures

- satellite communication systems, including understanding of RF fundamentals, OSI model, MAC/PHY interactions, and system components (Terminal, Gateway, Space segment)

- Strong background in embedded systems software development and networking-focused operating systems , including experience with bare-metal implementations

- Knowledge of advanced networking concepts including software-defined networking (SDN), load balancing, network security, QoS, and distributed systems architecture

- Demonstrated expertise in network optimization, troubleshooting, and performance tuning across complex systems.
Understand and articulate customer needs, conduct on-going customer research, leverage internal knowledge and expertise, and prioritize feature requirements
Serve as the technical product expert for software , assisting marketing with press briefing, industry talks, and whitepapers and participating with business development in product and service discussions with customers.

About the team

You will be joining a highly technical product management team that is focused on defining and driving the product requirements for all of the customer facing hardware, software and systems for the Kuiper Device Technology Mobility solution.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's/Masters/PhD Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical work experience plus an MBA or 10+ years demonstrated business leadership experience

- 5+ years of experience in product management, systems engineering, IC design or applications engineering

- 5+ years of experience developing or managing complex communication devices

- 5+ years of experience with end-to-end product delivery in embedded systems, multiple OS including kernel level and device drivers , networking and communication products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Electrical, Electronics or Wireless Communications Systems

- 2+ years of experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition

- 2+ years of experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs for a complex wireless communications products

- In-depth knowledge of product life cycle from prototype, assembly, certification, launch, and maintenance for linefit and retrofit across multiple businesses

- Experience working with OEMs and delivering complete systems solution , repair/logistics, help desk, and software/network feature development / prioritization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
