Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist

Must-Have: Experience in ortho, trauma, vascular, robotics, and neuro cases

Description:
The Surgical Technologist Certified functions under the direction of the registered professional nurse.
Assists the health care team in providing safe, age-appropriate, and culturally aware patient care.
Possesses knowledge, skill, and ability to perform duties within the context of moderate to high acuity surgical cases.
Exhibits additional surgical skills for progressively more difficult cases.
Demonstrates an efficient, organized surgical plan for assigned cases.
Takes initiative to discuss the surgical plan with other members of the healthcare team.
Troubleshoots instruments and equipment.
Anticipates additional supplies or equipment required for procedures.
Mentors, precepts, or trains in various modalities.
Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
Prepares the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment.
Maintains the sterile field and addresses other patient safety concerns.
Gathers required instruments and supplies and serves as a surgical assistant as needed.
Ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
May be required to cover additional shifts or call.
Maintains the knowledge, skill, and ability for moderate to high difficulty surgical cases.
Checks supplies and equipment needed for procedures.
Assists with room set-up and sterile supply opening.
Sets up the sterile table with instruments, supplies, and medication/solutions needed.
Performs surgical counts with the circulator.
Participates in the procedure pause/time-out.
Scrubs, gowns, and gloves; gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
Assists in draping the sterile field.
Passes instruments to the surgeon during the procedure.
Maintains an organized back table and operative field.
Anticipates and offers the surgeon suggestions during procedures.
Maintains sterile technique during procedures.
Prepares sterile dressings.
Participates in post-procedure pause to account for specimens.
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
Applies principles of asepsis for infection prevention and safety.
Prepares case carts according to procedures and preference cards.
Observes patient condition and reports significant findings to healthcare providers.
Plans for the next steps in procedures and adjusts in emergencies.
Prepares OR room for receiving patients and restocks and cleans areas.
Maintains financial stewardship by opening only required supplies.
Provides age-appropriate and culturally aware patient care.
Practices patient-centered care under the supervision of the registered nurse.
Follows organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies.
Supports evidence-based practice and ethical accountability.
Promotes a positive work environment and teamwork.
Acts as a patient advocate for care and safety.
Assists with between-case and terminal cleaning of the room.
Assists in preparing the room for the next patient.
Assists in transporting patients.
Provides comfort and safety measures for patients.
Seeks opportunities to improve processes and collaborates with the healthcare team.
Maintains a positive attitude and flexibility in assignments.
Completes all initial and annual competencies and mandatory education.
