KKCS is seeking an experienced and highly organized Facilities IT Specialist to support the LAUSD Facilities Services Division. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in IT project management, business analysis, and technical systems integration-especially within educational or public agency environments. The position is full-time, contract, W2, and onsite in Los Angeles, CA.

- Salary Range: $112,520 - $117,520 annually

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
KKCS is seeking an experienced and highly organized Facilities IT Specialist to support the LAUSD Facilities Services Division. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in IT project management, business analysis, and technical systems integration-especially within educational or public agency environments. The position is full-time, contract, W2, and onsite in Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical design documents and coordinate with in-house staff and task order engineers.
- Manage full lifecycle IT projects (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout).
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables aligned with business objectives.
- Develop project charters, plans, and communication documents.
- Supervise and guide Business Systems Analysts and other team members.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Manage budgets, timelines, project risks, and vendor relationships.
- Use MS Project to plan and track milestones and deliverables.
- Generate and deliver project status reports to various stakeholders.
- Conduct project post-mortems and recommend improvements for future projects.
- Coach and mentor team members to encourage accountability and performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university (required).
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or Systems Engineering.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of full-time, paid professional IT experience (preferably in education or public works).
- 4+ years of experience in business analysis and understanding of business processes.
- 3+ years of experience managing projects as a Project Manager.
- Proven experience managing at least one project from inception through implementation.
- Experience working with project stakeholders (clients, users, and leadership).
- Experience creating Project Charters and defining technical solutions with business SMEs.
- Ability to develop estimates, WBS, and comprehensive work plans.
- Strong skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, and influence.
- Knowledge of quality standards and project integrity assurance.
- Experience in preparing and implementing test plans and UAT processes.
- Experience managing large-scale IT projects (software analysis, development, testing, implementation).
- Proficiency in project planning using MS Project and creating/presenting detailed status reports.
- Ability to lead technical and operational teams and facilitate project meetings.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with productivity tools including:
- MS Visio
- MS Project
- MS Excel
- MS Word
- MS PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strongly preferred: Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
- Prior experience working with LAUSD is highly desirable.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Familiarity with Relational Database Management Systems:
- Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase
- Experience using reporting tools such as:
- BIRT, Tableau, Crystal Reports, Actuate
- Programming language knowledge:
- Java, C, C++, Open ACS, Oracle PL/SQL
- Experience with programming procedures:
- ASP, TCL, JSP, PHP, Python
- Proficiency with report development tools:
- Toad, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Oracle APEX
- Experience with agile development tools and data modeling.
